Do you believe that you turned into a cynic?

I would definitely say that life has turned me into a cynic. I grew up thinking that the world was a good place. My parents tried to shelter me from the bad things going on all around me. Unfortunately, they could not shelter me from the bad things going on in my own house. As a grew older, I realized how terrible people can be. People always say to look at the good and not the bad, but it can be so hard to do that when bad things are constantly at your door. I try to stay positive, but I still do not trust people and whenever things are looking up, I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop, thinking that the good can not last forever.

That's sad. I guess it helps us cope with life and be able to face the unknown out there with certainty that no matter what lies ahead...
we will prevail (sound like from an old movie I saw. lol)

I turned into a cynic along the last two years of my high school. Seeing my classmates as they were, I already assumed that there are alot of them out there in the real world.
Being cynic leads me out of dissappoinments and got me practical on things. A realist I guess.
