I ordered certain products online when I lived in Japan. The place I ordered from most specialized in rice and beans. I also ordered coffee and teas. I have never ordered normal, perishable groceries online, but have heard that Safeway and our local health food store deliver.

I have not ordered groceries online, mainly because I am on a budget and I plan my meals around the meats, fruits and veggies that are on special in the store. There are some elderly people in my building without a car and I noticed the Gateway grocery delivery truck a few times. You can order groceries online at Gateway. My daughter in-law has ordered groceries online this past winter because she is at home with a young baby and they only have one car which my son must use for work some days. I think this service is great for shut-ins and people who are temporarily disabled with an illness.

I have not tried ordering groceries online yet, but I am one of those that could use a system like this, so I have looked at a couple of websites where they offer the service in my area in Norway. The price of the food is very high compared to any grocerystore. In addition the charge for the delivery is also high. Last time I looked it was 20 dollars. I cannot afford that at all. One may get the delivere free of charge one time fore every two new customers you bring in.

I have shopped online before but never for groceries. I would be afraid that by the time I got them they would be spolied and it would be hard to buy fruit and meat without being able to the quality of them.
