I pray alot and sometimes find
myself doing it without concience thought!
I am spiritual. I believe in one God. I am Bahai.
I have a relationship with the man upstairs...
but I do not expect you to think like me..
or worship like me...to be my friend..
I love the differentness of us all..
It's like having a vase full of different color
flowers instead of all one...
We all have a fav color but if we don't
accent it with other colors we will
soon tire of it!
Where do you stand? or sit? or kneel?
on this subject?
"Prayer is not an act of worship merely, the bending of the knee on set occasions, and offering petitions in need. It is an attitude of soul, opening the life on the Godward side, and keeping free communication with the world of spirit." -- Hugh Black

Hi raydene! I do pray a lot and in praying I just don't recite all those prayers that were taught to me when I as a kid. I pray with my heart. I talk to my God about everything that is happening to me, my worries, my problems, my family, my friends and just about anything. I listen to Him in my heart. When I am working in the house or whatever I am doing, I offer my work to Him that He blessed it so that it will be pleasing to Him and in my simple work may He be glorified. I still am not sure if I am a spiritual person or if I am sending positive thoughts to all people. But I would really like that I would be one day. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

Yes I pray alot, and read my bible every day. I am very spiritual, I just sit on my couch or on my bed at night and pray for different thing's. I don't kneel as I have bad knee's, but it don't matter to the lord just as long as you pray. I pray for my sister who is going through treatment's for cancer, for the soldier's over sea's,friend's, family, etc. you are right we are all different in our belief's and that is what make's every one unique. I have become closer to God in the last four year's as my sister has been battling cancer for that long. she was in remission for one year, but it came back in her bone's and her liver.
It started in her right lung, she had treatment's and went into remission, but this year it came back in different part's of her body. also in 2004 she got a rare bleeding disorder called ITP. I keep praying that she will get better, right now she is in the hospital from complication's from the last chemo treatment she had two week's ago. she has one more treatment to go in two week's and then she is done, but then she had to wait a few week's so they can do another pet scan to see if the cancer is gone.
Hope it is, she has had it rough for the past few year's.

I pray often whenever and wherever I feel the need to communicate. Mostly is just thanks for some particular situation I find myself in at that moment. Then at night before bed I have a long talk with God about the day and requesting his blessings on a multitude of different subjects.

I pray every day. I pray for myself and for others also. I pray when things are going good in my life and especially when they are going wrong, which is not right, but it just happens that way. I have to pray to the lord to help me and guide me through life daily.

I love that quote and I have to agree! To me prayer is something that can be done anytime and anywhere! I believe in God - I have a lot of faith and I think it is more about constantly talking to God - just like you would with a parent. I thank God for all the good things as well as asking for help with problems . I tell him how I feel and what is happening with my family and that is the way I feel! xxx

Yes Raydene, I do pray - anywhere! I can be standing at the sink washing up, and if I need to speak to God about something, I do it there and then. I've prayed when I've been on my knees weeding in the garden; it doesn't matter where I am - if I feel the need, then I do it. God doesn't mind where we are or what we're doing when we speak to him - as long as we do it!
I am spiritual, but choose not to follow the regular faiths by attending church, etc. My relationship with God is between Him and me, and is very personal. I do not look to man, I only answer to God.
We all have different points of views, and it's good to learn how other people feel. Thanks for starting this discussion Raydene, it's an interesting one - you may have opened a can of worms with it!

Yes, i pray, before i sleep there is this stimulus or it is part of my system. When I go to bed, i will remember to pray and it always happened. I ask God to give me some reflection on something i did on this day and he will give that and I will realize the wrongs i have done and this is where i apologize to him. I also talk to him and I know and i feel he answers me when i realize something.

Hello there,
well you have put it like it was a vase full of different color flowers...
I would say it's like a big, really big tree, that dates since like forever and has big branches.
Every person of us chooses a branche and go in a certain direction, but if we look closely , all these branches meet at the end of the tree, at the roots that keep it alive.
We are all part of this system, we all have this different perception about God, that leads us into different paths in our lives, but in the end we all believe in something that is bigger than us ..those are the roots .
Without the roots, branches could have never existed :)
I hope i didn't talk too much about it but i liked ur post and i'm a strong believer, i always pray , i've learned how to only pray for others, how to believe in God and how to set my spiritual life as my priority.
But sometimes u find it hard to go on, since life knocks u down with its bad influence, from bad people , eager ones ...
The key is that praying gives u strength to go on, to teach those people and to guide them so they may be saved :)

when it comes to prayer i dont believe there is a particular posture you must be in but the most important is where your heart and spirit is,i have found myself praying while driving with my heart connected to my God and i got an assurance that an answer has come, really its about your mind with your God

Yeah, me, too. I pray always. Of course, I am Catholic. I do not know what your religion is, though. I pray for everybody and the whole world. Yeah, there is One True God. I just pick out a really quiet place, read the Bible and pray. I have lots of stuff about the Catholic Church and its doctrines. As I pray, as I have faith in God, I feel HIS Spirit flowing in me.

I try to speak to the man upstairs at least twice a day once in the morning for giving me another day in this world, and before I got to sleep at night to thank him for helping me cope with what ever the day has brought. I know I am far from perfect and sometimes lose it, but I am human and I ask God to forgive me for the wrong that I have done. I try to obey the 10 commandments he made for us and I try to read my bible as often as I can. I know I am here only by the grace of God since my heart attack.
I hope things are looking up for you after your sad time, it is good to see you here and that you are doing ok. Peace be with you

Hi there. I only really pray every once in a while aye. If I had a Really Crappy Day I refuse to and then it just won't happen. I can get into this really good pattern of saying them like every Morning and Night or Just Night or something like that and then I have one of those crap days and then I don't wanna know abt it. It's just the way I seem to work.
Catch ya later.

Hi Raydene. I am a Roman Catholic. I say my prayers everyday before i sleep. I believe in God too, just like you and other believers ;) I find that the only one person that can comfort me is God. I talk to him in my heart. When i'm sad or in need of some guidance, I talk to God in my heart. I know He is everywhere and He listens to your heart. I never miss a single day not saying my prayers. I pray the Rosary prayers every night too. It feels a little weird for me if i haven't say my prayers. I feel like i have left out something to do for the day.. God is powerful and He is forgiving. God Bless everyone today and have a nice day :)

I also pray a lot and often send out little unspoken prayers
to passers by without their even knowing it. some people
do not belive in prayers but I do. I am a Methodist but seldom
go to church but I do believe and feelGod is with me and I pray tohim often for myself and for others. we are all different
and that makes us so great.

Whenever I face problems, I pray a lot,but not necessarily in front of god, or by wearing special types of clothes or etc.For Instance, before proclamation of my university results.

Well, i believe that prayer is, Love extended. anytime we feel immense love, not just toward a person in a romatic way, but love more in the cosmic sense, we are in a state of prayer. Prayer usually is directed toward selfish needs, but of course, not in all cases! I don't think there is anyone that does not pray for anything. Anything that is asked for from the bottom of one's heart, not necessarily directed towards a particular GOD can also be a form of prayer. Ultimately the soul is ready to provide us with anything that we ask for. If we get what we have asked for, then we have said our prayers in the right way. Sometimes its easy for us to get it, sometimes its difficult! But, at the end of the day, our prayers are answered!!!
