Personal preference plays a big role in this selection. I've heard and read brand that does not work for me but works perfectly for others and vise versa. Would you consider replacing your hard disk with the same brand that failed you? All the mere reason of this discussion.
I have develop a confidence in Seagate brands, the only reason why I change them is when I upgrade to a more spacious disk.

I am not considering changing my drive with the same brand but for the moment I have no money to invest into a brand new hard drive (even if a new drive isn't that expensive). I have no choice but to change my existing drive over and over again until the drive isn't there in the supplier stocks so I can get my money back.
The problem is that Seagate has this problem with the nForce2 chipset - and I have to change my mainboard for the hard drive to work...

I personally like Seagate i am using it. They are good at speed though bit heavy on pockets. I have to purchase a Hard-disk i will go Seagate, because its afersales service is too good. I personally experinced due to some reason my hard drive had bad setors wihout asking me any damn question they replaced it within 4 days. It comes with 5 yrs warrenty. Even i heard that western digial is also good one as it data transfer speed is good and it coes with 5yrs warranty.

I think western digital and segate is the best brand of hard disc available in the market.Both companies are given 5 year warranty for their product.So there is nothing to worry about.

Nope, Seagate is no good ! I am currently for my second replacement of a Seagate drive. So, I will never buy another Seagate again ! Besides that they won't give me my money back. They are giving me a new hard drive and each time the hard crashes on my PC. I have to wait until Seagate runs out of these drives so that I can get my money back.

i like western digital,i've never had a problem with them.quiet and stable.
i can remember buying from another company before,and when i scanned it the first time it already had bad sectors on it.which pretty much meant it came from the factory that way.
