Do you have a dessert or snack right after eating your meal?

So, this crossed my mind today while I was having lunch. I really don't have dessert or snacks right after eating a meal. Whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner and I got to wondering. How many of you do?
I usually have a mid morning snack, after breakfast of course, like some cookies or a chocolate bar, then I eat lunch a few hours afterwards.
I don't snack much because when I finish eating my meal I am usually full and would rather eat my food rather than stuff myself full of junk. Now, nothing against junk, hell I love sweet stuff so much I'm gonna put up a blog with sweet dessert recipes that I love soon. But if I could eat a good amount of food and still handle dessert, well bring it on baby! I never have dessert when I'm out at restaurants either.
So how many of you enjoy desserts after your meals and what are your favourite desserts to have?

hi pooh,
Some people are like that. One of my dad's friend for example. His meal isn't complete without a small dessert, even if it's just one block of chocolate. Fruit is always a great choice!

Yeah i love banana and especially the one use in making banana chips, but i eat it as a fruit not as a chips. I like it especially when i my meal is some kind of oily. Banana is an energy booster and rich source of iron, thus it is helpful in cases of anemia It is also a good source of potassium. If you are taking diuretics take 2 bananas a day to prevent the depletion of potassium in the body.
The skin of the banana is said to help remove warts(cover the warts with the inner skin of banana) and also good for people who have high blood pressure because it is low in salt.
Banana is also helpful in the following cases : Stomach ulcer (banana has a natural antacid), Colitis, Digestive disorder, Diarrhea, Constipation (banana is high in fiber), Hemorrhoids.
Hope you like it soon.

I usually have something sweet after I eat my main meal, but it's usually a piece of fruit. I don't usually eat really big meals and space all my food throughout the day. Mostly, I either eat fruit mixed in with something, like oatmeal, or I eat it right after, like I just did with lunch and had an orange.

Hi desertdarlene!
Fruit is the best dessert to have, I agree. But I am such a sweet tooth, the only thing kept coming to my mind was either a small piece of really rich cake or some dressed up ice cream!
It's good to have fruit though and I actually remember my grandpa mixing in those canned fruit cocktails in vanilla ice cream when he has desserts, since you mentioned the mixing in of fruit with the oatmeal.

Mixing in fruit cocktail with vanilla ice cream sounds good. I think I've done that before, too.

I'm terrible when it comes to snacking after a meal. It's usually cookies or chocolate and lately it's been icecream.

Hehehe,
Cookies or chocolate sounds nice to me! Well, maybe that's cause I could use the grounds to put on a bit of weight...
The ice cream sounds nice. Do you top it off with anything or have it plain?

hi scarlet,
Cheese curls are a nice little snack. I haven't heard many people mention chips or cheetos, etc. Bakes are always a nice choice for sweet desserts.

I don't eat desserts after my meals very often at all. I tend to be a snacker between meals instead.
Every once in awhile my husband and I will share a dessert when we go out to dinner.
Of course we have dessert after dinner on major holidays too. My husband is a big pumpkin pie fan and I am more lemon merengue.

I can understand the snacking between meals. I mean you do tend to want something after a few hours. Dessert at a restaurant is always nice.

Soon after lunch, [we normally have a three course meal--rice with sambar[this is a gravy using vegetables and dhal], rasam[diluted version of sambar with different spicy powder and tomato, and then curd and rice. Vegetables are the side dishes.
India, being a very hot place, most people have curds and rice[esp. the South Indians] I am an exception because I abhor this curd rice. However, since I face health problems, I drink buttermilk to counter the heat. I take a glass of butter milk soon aftetr I have lunch.
I do not particularly fancy this and pop in a small chocolate into my mouth afer food.
But generally, I love desserts. I love almond halwa, ice cream and chocolate as desserts.

Hi kalav,
That's quite a selection you have going there! I do agree, after having something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth you would automatically want something you like the taste of to kill the taste of the previous item! I am not familiar with halwa, but I'm gonna look it up.

We seldom will have a dessert after dinner and it's really unusual to have snacks after the meal. Sometimes when we are eating in the restaurant, and in some restaurants they will offer you dessert or fruit free of charge. Or sometimes we will order some dessert.
I love China

Hi youless,
That's awesome that you get a free little dessert or fruit at some restaurants. I've never heard of this before and have never had it happen to me. Hope you enjoy them to the fullest when you get these special little treats!

When I'm at home, I usually find something sweet after I eat. Either that or some chips. But most of the time it's chocolates or fresh fruits. My parents have this fruit diet going on lately so our house is really stock full of fruits.
But when I'm at school or with my friends, after every meal, I usually have a smoke. It's not really considered as dessert but then, it helps take away that really full feeling you get when you ate too much.

Hi piatos,
Chips! Finally I've heard someone mention chipsas dessert! A fruit diet sounds nice, good to cleanse the body. I don't know about the smoking as a desserthehehe. But I didn't know you feel less filled up after one, that's a cool little tidbit to know.

I do not have a dessert after a meal, it is just way too much for me. I do not when I go out for a meal either, I would love too but I would only eat a mouthful and so it is a waste of money. If the kids are with us then sometimes I will share something with them because the desserts that you get when out are always big enough for 2 to share anyway.

Yeah, it's the full feeling that keeps me from having dessert and I'd rather eat all the food than leave room for dessert instead. Even if I am out with others and they have dessert and offer me a bite I say "no thanks, I'm full."

I dont usually have anything else after eating my meals either as i am usually full but when I do its because i just feel like topping off with something nice and sweet.
My mom does this because she finds it hard to just have a glass of drink all on its own. She calims the snack is an accompaniment to help the drink down as the drink by itself (her words) is too wet.
She does not have her drink with her meals but rathers to have it this way after eating. (lol)

lol the drink is too wet. Maybe she should try some milkshakes or smoothies. But hey, it's a nice excuse to have some dessert...

hey teka,
Aww, that's sweet. Kinda like family time! Too many sweets can be bad so make sure she don't eat too much at a time when she is home. Unless she just burns back out all the sugar anyway!

I have desert after my meal if I am still hungry after my meal or if there has been something bought specifically for desert.

Alot of time, I like a little sweet treat after a meal. Especially if I have a starchy meal. For some reason, it seems to break it up! So to help stop this habit, I now drink flavored chamomile tea. This helps digestion and takes care of cravings!

Hi laglen,
That;s interesting, something sweet helps your meal digest better. But then everyone is different. Glad you found a nice healthy way to curb the cravings.

Hi Candee!
Getting over sweet stuff is probably a hard thing. I used to be a real sweet tooth but lately although i love sweets so much still I eat less of it these days.
Good luck!

I think it is a must for me to eat something sweet after everymeal. My ideal dessert would have to be a cake or ice cream and those are exactly what I eat after having my lunch. It's a good thing that there is a convenience store outside our school where I could buy my dessert faves.

Hi athinapie,
Lucky for you, otherwise your sweet tooth would be aching you or rather you'd just feel uneasy without something to satisfy that sweet tooth (happened to me before)

Craving something sweet could be a bit of a habit but fruits are always good and healthy and chocolate is just plain yummy!

It usually depends on the location I am having my meal at or how full I am currently.
I will not snack right after my meal, but maybe an hour or so after. I would prefer to take a drink rather than having dessert, because I feel it's quite sinful for dessert after a heavy meal.Maybe it's just me. haha

Yeah, I take a drink myself. It's my usual way to go anyway. I dunno about sinful...I guess it depends on how rich the dessert is and if you have a big piece of it
