I have always wondered, how people can live in this world if they are volunteers? They do not receive any payments for their work, dont they? Who are these people, who help others for free?

In the UK a lot of people who do voluntary work are either retired from their jobs so receive pension and choose to do volunteer work to help charities or people that they could not before as they had to work. Then there are also people who have a very rich income from one family member and so they have the time also to volunteer without needing to worry about money.

I have a friend of mine, she's Bachelor of Science Education graduate. She passed the licensure exam last year. Now she applied as high school teacher in their place. She was interviewed and result not yet released if she passed or not. In her desire to teach, she voluntered even without pay. As per to her, she likes teaching and she want it exercise while waiting for the result.

they treat wolunteers identity as a part-time job maybe. they have their own job but choose proper time as volunteers.

Here in the u.k. it is mostly retired people who do voluntary work I think, and it is to help people less fortunate and also to make friend.
