Should myLot Allow Members To Edit Their Discussions??? On myLot, once you click on that [start discussion] button you are hosed! Whatever you wrote is engraved in stone. Any typos, misspellings, grammatical errors, omissions, everything...is set for the life of the forum. You can't even delete a discussion once you click that dang button! In many ways this site is quite out of touch with what is happening in the world of social networking. It shows prominently in the dramatic fall in their Alexa ratings. And one of the most glaring short-comings of myLot is the inability of members to edit the discussions they start or delete their own comments. Almost every other social networking community on teh web allows, even encourages, their members to correct and edit discussions/articles that they post to the forums. Those other communities also allow you to delete your own discussions and comments. Isn't it time that myLotters had the same tools as other web communities?

Yes that is exactly the type of discussion a member should be able to delete.

I hope they look into this as it's been requested by many of us here to have this feature added to mylot.

You would think they would be more responsive to member suggestions. However they choose to give us things like "Activity sorties" and mess with our profiles instead of giving members useful tools that would improve the community. Maybe if more of us speak out they will eventually listen!

I agree completely. If we could edit or even delete our own discussions then perhaps there would be less problems with people getting them deleted for you. I would like to have more say so in what happens to the discussions I start versus leaving it in the hands of those that disagree with the discussion. Anyone can come along and find reason to have a discussion deleted. What happened to freedom of speech? Sometimes, also after you have written a discussion you realize tht you haven't given enough information to make people understand what it is you are trying to ask and I'd like to be able to clarify some of the things I write.

yeah, that is the coolest idea i ever heard about mylot, i think they have to make that possible soon, but when you say editing discussions, will you get paid again and again when you edit your posts repeatedly? i don't think they will do that, if they make it possible i will be happy, because when i write i have a difficulty of spelling some words like, teh instead of the, and i will just hit the post comment button without reviewing my post, thats my problem, and i have appreciated your idea, have a nice mylotting!!

Absolutely NOT!!! You get paid ONCE to post the discussion. The ability to edit is only to make corrections to the original text.

Using the [preview comment] button and proofreading your post is a good way to go, but has its short comings. When using preview, the writer tends to "read from memory" what they just wrote and not actually read the text. Thus they gloss over many mistakes. Proofreading is better done the next day or at least a few hours after doing the writing. I employ a browser-based spell-checker which catches most of the misspellings, but if you type "there" instead of "they're" you have spelled the wrong word correctly.
