Popping Pills

I take so many vitamins each day that it's not even funny! I take one multivitamin per day. I also take a calcium pill because my multivitamin doesn't provide enough, and I'm allergic to milk, which means I definitely don't get enough calcium from what I eat. I take what I call an "eye pill" because it's supposed to help my eyes stay healthy and keep them from degenerating. I take a "garden" pill that gives me more than enough servings of fruits and vegetables. Oddly enough, I also take a pill that helps with absorption of all of my other vitamins to ensure my body uses everything. Without that pill, all of my other vitamins would go to waste! What kind of pills and vitamins do you take on a daily or regular basis? What are they for and why do you take them? Is there a pill you wish doctors would create?

The only pill I would want a doctor to create is one that would get all the pounds off me, and I would be able to walk again. That would be totally awesome. No I do not take many vitamins, I just cannot afford to buy them.

I know what you mean because vitamins can really add up. I know they would for me if I didn't get a good deal on them because of my discount. I don't want to take too many either. I just take what I need (and right now that's none because I ran out!) I know they do have pills that can help you lose weight without having to do anything else. All you do is eat like normal and take a pill either once a day or three times per day, one with each meal. I can't remember how often, but they work very well because I have a couple coworkers that take them. They really like them because it speeds up their metabolism, and the body burns calories quicker without them having to do too much. If you're interested in something like that, let me know! I can give you more information. However, I think it's good that you're not taking anything at the moment as the money can really add up on those useless and unnecessary vitamins. That's why I have to be careful not to take anything my body doesn't need or can't digest. I'm constantly talking with my nutritionist and mentor along with my chiropractor. Thanks for your response!

All I take is a multivitamin. I was taking a lot more but it became a pain since some of the pills interact with others so you can't take them all at once. Like calcium, you can't take a multi w/calcium in it and take a calcium supplement (or drink it with milk) because it will not all get absorbed.

Ahh...I see now. Here is your real response! (LOL) I was quite confused. I'm glad you're able to take a multivitamin, and that's all. Wish I could do that, but my multivitamin doesn't have the extra calcium and iron that my body needs. I understand what you mean about absorption. I even take a pill for that that's supposed to help everything you take absorb no matter what you take it with. That sounds so confusing, but as long as it works, I'm happy! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

wow. that's a lot of vitamins jj! it must be a lot of hassle to take all those everyday. i mean, you have to remember to take all of those everyday! you have to go out of your way just to take them. ^__^;;
i'm not taking any vitamins right now. before i used to take vitamin c and iron vitamins. but i stopped because its too expensive and a lot of hassle. ^__^;; but i've been feeling a little weak and prone-to-sickness these past few weeks so i'm thinking of taking vitamin c again to boost my immune system.

I think taking Vitamin C is a great idea because it's something you need each and every day, like you said, for your immune system to have the boost it needs for the day. It couldn't hurt because you'd get it in certain foods anyway. The only difference would be that you take a pill instead of get it through your diet. Of course, like you also said, it's a lot more complicated trying to remember all those pills to take! It definitely can get confusing for me to remember all that stuff on top of everything else I do on a daily basis. Thank you for your quality response.

That's tough because it's kind of a lose-lose situation when you look at it that way. Either way, you're spending money to get Vitamin C since fruit is expensive and Vitamin C tablets are getting up there in price too. I know exactly what you mean and appreciate your comment. Take care, Secret Bear!

Thanks! (LOL) I'll remember that from now on since I've learned from experience now! I can't believe I did that, but I (hopefully) won't be moving again for a while now...I'll be sure to pack them last so they're at the top next time! Thanks for the tip and have a great day!

I know there are plenty of people who don't like shots and injections of sorts, but wouldn't it be nice to get one once per month that would contain everything the body needed for that month? That way, we wouldn't have to worry about taking pills. I agree with you that they're too hard to remember to take no matter what a person does. We'll always forget! In my case, I'm not taking anything right now because I ran out of everything. All of my extras are in boxes somewhere because I'm all packed up ready to move into my new place as soon as it's ready. I'll figure out where all my pills are after that. (LOL) For now, I'm content with not having to remember to take anything. Thanks for your response. I now feel much better about my forgetfulness! (LOL)

Wow I would say you are definitely a pill popper, LOL!!! I take Woman's one a day and then I take my birth control and my synthroid for hypothyroidism. I wish the doctors could create a pill that gives you lots of energy that lasts all day.

That would be wonderful...a natural way to get energy for your entire day of activities. I know there's caffeine pills that give you energy, but it doesn't last all day, and they're not the best thing for you! I've had friends who take them, and man, you could tell when they didn't take them because they were grumpy and dragging their feet everywhere they when. I highly suggest not taking those! (LOL) I have a friend who gets the birth control shots rather than pills since she would always forget to take pills and...well, you know the rest. (LOL) That's one less pill she has to take. Wow, your response was so interesting. Thanks for your input!

Wow. Black and white. I have never seen one like that.
We had butterflies and moths all over a few weeks ago. Then a cold snap came through and they went MIA. Now that the temps are warming up again I am sure they will come back out, I know my cat will enjoy that.

We have recently purchased a liquid vitamin that I feel is absorbed better, so that is my multi. I also take a lot of B-6 daily as it helps with arthritis. I probably get enough calcium, because I do drink milk, eat yogurt and cheese and cottage cheese and other dietary forms of calcium. I do, however take magnesium, as it helps prevent headaches as it relaxes smooth muscles and if you do not get enough magnesium you can take a truck load of calcium and not do any good. I take cod liver oil as it helps with arthritis, and it helps with vision health. I just wish I could remember to do this consistently. Our liquid vitamin has acai, goji, noni, and mangosteen juice extracts in it as well as vitamins. I mix mine in milk or juice. Pretty tasty.

I guess I should've known that they'd have liquid vitamins available! Doctors are always coming out with the latest and greatest ideas, aren't they? That's very neat! It sounds delicious too. Wow, I never knew that magnesium helped with headaches. I don't get them often, but when I do they're horrible! My fiance and my mom in particular get migranes all the time. I wonder if taking that would help? I know I don't get enough calcium as I should because I'm allergic to cow's milk and have been for about a year now. It's awful because I used to drink milk (and eat ice cream) all the time! I grew up drinking milk. It's kind of funny because my parents always made me drink milk as a kid. Once I got older, I'd drink it by choice because I liked it so much. I love the way it makes me feel healthy, too, because it's so filling in my stomach...I miss that, obviously! However, now that I like to drink milk by choice, I can't have it! I'm looking forward to when they bring out that supposed "cure" to allergies because I'll be able to eat whatever I want! Of course, I do that anyway but have to reap the consequences afterwards. My side effects to eating things I'm not supposed to aren't too bad...just a little discomfort in the mouth and throat, and then it's all over with in a matter of minutes or even seconds. I can't remember how I got onto all of that, but I'm happy to learn that you get plenty of calcium! I go to the doctor every couple of months, and each time my doctor has my blood drawn. It's frustrating because each time she tells me I have to take more of something else. It's mostly calcium and iron, which definitely isn't good because I ran out of my vitamins and am not taking anything right now. It's ok since I don't have another appointment until next month. (LOL) You probably think I sound pathetic! I'm glad you mentioned being consistent with taking vitamins because I'm the worst example of that. I try to keep my pill box handy and even have a reminder set at work so I remember to take whatever it is I need to take for the day. It's pretty sad, I know, but I have to do whatever it takes to make it work for me! Thanks for your response. I feel a lot more educated about what I should be taking now!

Hi there. I don't think you take too many at all. It seems that you're quite organized in your pill taking as well. You take all the letters of vitamins (LOL), which should actually keep your health quite good. You seem like a very healthy person to me, so keep up the good work! I wish I were as organized as you are with your vitamins and such. Thanks for the encouragement and for your response. Take care, friend.

No, I didn't see this in the news, but I think you're exactly right. If everyone ate healthy like they're supposed to, then no pills would be needed. I don't know about you, but I don't want to die any younger than I'm already destined to! (LOL) Thanks for your helpful response.

Vitamin C is very good for you. I should probably take more of that, but the only time I do is when I'm sick usually. I've always heard green tea is very good, too, but I've also heard tea isn't good because of the caffeine. I'm sure green tea is more healthy because of the natural herbs and such that are in it. Thanks for your response!

Yes, I most certainly do have a pill for everything! Even if there were things I didn't have a pill for, I'm sure I could find them one! In fact, I even have a pill for my pills; it helps all of them digest. (LOL) I'm like you because I don't like to take big pills either. If it's bigger than my throat can swallow, it's too big to make and sell! It's a very good idea for you to keep eating a healthy, balanced diet so everything you would've taken in a vitamin will be in your food. You won't have to take any pills that way! Good for you. Many thanks for your instruction. I'm very careful about what I take because my chiropractor is a trained nutritionist that has been working with vitamins and other medicines for years in addition to his practice of muscle and bone placement (or whatever it is chiropractors do!) I don't want to take unnecessary medicine as that can become expensive, yet I don't want to take not enough of this stuff either. I guess it's hard sometimes to find a happy medium in all of our diets. The best thing we can do is keep our ears open and understand what's out there. We have to be smart about it! Thanks, Che.

Make sure you are taking only what you need. I sure hope you are taking what the doctors prescribed. Vitamins and supplements are okay but it can also harm your liver. There are recommended daily allowances for these. Please consult the doctor for a more detailed explanation in case you have not seen one.:)

Hi there! Thank you so much for your sincere concern. You'll be happy to know that I've stopped taking pills and vitamins altogether until I can consult my physicians on what I'm taking. I have a very good friend and mentor who is also an excellent nutritionist. I will be getting in touch with her to figure out what I need. The less, the better, in my opinion because it's just that much less I'll be spending on pills! I don't want anything addicting either, of course. I don't want anything I absolutely have to take or I can't function that day. I don't like things like that. Thanks again and take care!
