do you put chopped-up hotdogs on your spaghetti? or not? if not, what meat do you usually put on your spaghetti? here in the philippines most people cook spaghetti with chopped up hotdogs and i guess that's because we were merely adapting to circumstances. philippines was not a very rich country and hotdogs are used as a substiture to meatballs because meat is so expensive. thanks to katcraneo for giving me such an idea

Eww. hotdogs. I don't eat hot dogs at all, probably because I know what is in them. We serve all kinds of thins with pasta - shrimp, vegetables, ground beef, cheese sauce, chicken, scallops, meatballs.

Hi rhane. I do this many times because my daughter love hotdogs. I use to put canned sardines too. It is quick and easy to make a sauce for pasta.

Hello, I'm Filipino too, yes I do put hotdogs in our sauce. Its the Pinoy ways of cooking spaghetti and it's sweet rather than sour.

i will sometimes if i don't have hamburger or sausage although it gets me dirty looks from my family LOL sometimes when i go to make spaghetti i forget to look in the freezer first, and somebody else will have eaten the meat i planned to use. i don't see the big deal though, hot dogs don't taste too bad on it,i think.

Honestly, I generally don't put hotdogs on spaghetti, though that's possibly just because I don't think of it! I've had it before, and I know I like it, but my mother always put in small pieces of bacon joint, or something like that. I suppose if we had had less money, hotdogs may have found themselves in our spaghetti.

hot dogs - hotdogs for spaghetti
I don't put it as substitute but added flavor to the taste of the spaghetti. As we all know that filipinos love the sweet style spaghetti. Yeah its too expensive but in red meat you can find the richest flavor that you'll love in spaghetti. I also add mushroom and a cup of evaporated milk after removing from the fire for every 2klgs of pasta. I also prefer beef rather than pork. I only cook a plain spaghetti as putting chop onion on hot oil then garlic, ground beef, season with soy sauce adding the chop hotdogs, bell pepper, carrots and mushroom. then the sauce, season with black pepper to a sort of spicy spaghetti, a little bit of sugar and salt to taste. Turn off the fire and put the evaporated milk.

it somehow enrich the taste of beef and sort flavor to our spaghetti, i learn it from my mom and my housemates ask me to cook their spaghetti during occasion as they say my spaghetti is different from the traditional filipino style spaghetti, but ofcourse that was experimental too. I love cooking and do some experimentation on it as putting impossible ingredients to the meal? i also had an experience

We use browned ground beef (hamburger) or make ground beef into meatballs to have with our spaghetti. It is interesting how different families, even in the same country, do different things with food. We usually have garlic bread with spaghetti, but the family of one of our son's friends always has biscuits. We always have have saltines with our chili soup, but my sister's in-laws always have hot rolls.

I always put ground beef on my spaghetti. Before I cook the ground beef, I mix it in with some home-made seasoning to give it more flavor. I've never put hot-dog in spaghetti, I just don't think they match.

I can't stand hot dogs because I drive by a hot dog factory nearby and the smell is TERRIBLE. I use ground beef in my spaghetti, but if that is too expensive for you to afford, you might try italian sausage or just plain pork breakfast sausage that you can crumble up like ground meat.
