Here in the Philippines, we say "Kaibigan" And your username, "teka" means "wait a minute" here.

A great percentage of Filipinos speak English. So the word friend is understandable and acceptable. In our language, we say kaibigan. In our local dialect, we say gayyem. It's really fun learning new words especially from other countries!

Here we say friend, amigo, buddy, pal, bff (best friend forever). I'm sure there's more but I usually just stick with friend or amigo. I guess it depends on my mood.

my main dialect is "tagalog" and we call a friend "kaibigan". but now i'm here in cebu, "amigo" for male and "amiga" for female, is how i call my friends...

In our country, India, northern side we speak Hindi language, in which its called "dhost" and in local dialect, "yaar" and in the southern part we speak Tamil language, in which its called "nanban" or "thozhan" and in local dilaect, "machchan"
