Last week I had to pull a tick out of Roo's ( the Hunter that he is ) left ear. The tick hadn't actually Bit down at that point , But It was sure suprised when I pulled it off. What do you use ( Before the Annual journey to the pet Shop to By tick-drops ) to remove these rotten lil' Buggers off of your Puppy????? I use a Pair of very Long Needle Nose Pliars. That way I Just Barely touch my Pup. A few Years ago My Husband was looking at Roo for ticks he got into the Tall-grass , he had 4 ticks on him that we found. My husband started getting tick-happy....he was pretty proud of himself at how efficiently he could get those lil' Buggers........except when he Flipped Roo Over on his Back and was about to get the Last tick off of Roo ( Thank god I was there ) I stopped my Husband , because what he thought was a tick was in reality.....Roo's Belly-Button. ( can you imagine how painful that would've Been ???) Who knew that puppies can have Outie-Belly-buttons??? at any Rate....He did not remove the " Tick " from roo's Belly ( Whew ) So....how do you deal with these rotten Ticks?????

i usually have to do the same things that you have to do...whenever i see them on my dog i have to just pull them off or do something like that...i have tried a flea and tick collar but honestly it hasn't really done anything...they aren't working like they use to...so whenever i take the dog out i have to come back in and check him good to make sure that there isn't anything on him...

puppies dont normally have outies. If you stand your puppy on his/her feet and put your finger on the outie and push gently in does it push in and feel a little weird on your finger? If so your puppy just might have an umbilical hernia. (I was a vet tech) and yes the ticks are out I am now a dog groomer and I am pulling 20 to 30 ticks per dog right now, I use a pair of curved hemostats that way I can get them as close as poss.

We have always pretty much did the same as you, except we used tweezers and then burned the tick.

Dear Cjgrooms...... It depends a lot on your location. This is ( for the Most part , although not exclusively ) a Rural issue. My snoopy I think only had One tick the whole time I lived in the City. But....Outhere Between the Cornfields and Cowpies....I have to check the Puppies regularly. The biggest problem My Dad ever had with his Dogs ( in the City ) was the Stinkin' Bott-Flys ( I'm not exactly sure what he Meant By that either ) Out here we have Stable-Flys Big enough that they could steel a small Toyota on their Backs. Their Bite is Wicked. And Boy.....are they UGGGGO! ( Slang for Ugly )

We live in the country and have plenty of woods on our property. So i guess i had best start watching for them. We have yellow flies here that can tote off a small human and the bite hurts like the dickins and takes forever to quit burning and for the swelling to go down.
