Do you read while you eat?

i'll read the newspaper sometimes at dinner,but usually only if i'm eating by myself.i was yelled at as a child too if i tried to read at the table,it just wasn't acceptable.but if i'm by myself,no one can see it,so i don't see any hurt in it.

Yes I read while I eat. I remember my mother telling me the same thing. Sometimes it seems like thats the only time when I can read. A 2 year old makes it hard to read at times. When you sit on the couch or something he always climbs on me. When It is dinner we are all eating and at times I can get some reading done. I don't read and eat all the time but sometimes

I think it's rude to eat when you're at the table with others and that's probably why some of us were taught not to. However, if you eat alone (as I do, since I live alone), reading takes the place of conversation and I don't see anything wrong with that. Otherwise, I'd have to stare at the wall or something!

The only time I read while I eat is during my lunch hour and, it is either a magazine, a book or here on myLot. Otherwise, I rarely eat breakfast so, that is a non-issue. And, I tend to watch tv while I eat my dinner, since I eat it alone (hubby is still at work by the time dinner time rolls around for me).

No, I don't read while I am eating. It is not a hobby of mine but my Father love to read newspaper while eating breakfast. I think this is his hobby hehehe

Sometimes I read and eat and I don't see anything wrong with it. For me I am a slow eater and when I'm readiing and eating, I eat even move slower and I don't concentrate on the food, but I don't mind it. Sometimes it is the only time I have to read the particular material, so I do what I got to do.

I don't read when I am eating. I am not a child any more and I have to act a good example for my child:) I love China

I do eat while watching TV or movies.But not yet eating while reading. Any way isn't it difficult to hold the book with one hand and at the same time putting food n t the mouth with the other.When I am relaxed, normally I do concentrate on chewing and taste of the food but it is just pushing in when having busy schedules or during work days.

I wasn't told not to read while eating but still I don't do it. When I grew up meal for us is always.... a happy meal (not the one from McDonalds) Meal time is always a nice experience because that was the time when we really sit down and talk. As a child, me and my siblings had fun memories of that. Now that I am a wife, I also make it a point that our meal is a happy experience. I never eat ahead if my hubby will be home late. I will always wait up for him and eat supper together. And we always talk how our day was during meal time.

Hy, This topic is funny beause I do the same thing While reading, I;m eating and drinking, Well I concentrate to what I read, and in the meantime I;m eating, Its fun, And you can do more things at once, and don;t spend hours to eat and then read, If you can do the both things in the same time Then Why don;t do it, If you like it then do it, I do eat when I;m reading, And I like it. I feel that people are different when it come to what your topic is about. You were brought up this way and still do it there is nothing wrong w/ it. I do read while I eat. I will sit infront of my computer while reading mylot discussions and eat at the same time. It's not an everyday thing but I do do it. I think you will get many different answers on this topic. no, i generally do not. i mainly read when i am not doing anything that can take away my attention. I also think that we lose concemtration in both then.

If we were sitting down to eat as a family then we weren't allowed to read at the table while eating. Any other time was acceptable though. I read while I eat quite often when I am alone or when the baby is asleep. I don't see anything wrong with it. My parents read while they eat too.
