How do you know if your friend is lying to you?

instinct i guess, sometimes you just know that this person is not telling the truth or making stuff up, by the way he/she is presenting the story. For instance, you know he normally speaks little but when he telling you the story he becomes very much talkative.

My friend does otherwise. When he's really talkative, he's saying the truth. But when he gets really quiet to the point that he doesn't want to talk about the topic, then something's bothering him which he doesn't want me to know. Thanks for the response though. It helps to know that maybe i can work on my instinct in treating my friend's bluffing.

This is one area that I really dont haveto worry about. I have 2 bestfriends and both know what it is like to be stabbed in the back and didnt like it at all. The 3 of us have no reason to lie to eachother and we can easily tell when something is up. It is in the way they are talking nd there body language. A person who is normally bubbily and playfull you can tell when something is bothering them because they you can clearly see that they are not acting themselvs.
If you have afriend who is not being completely honest with you then I think it is time to "dump" them so to speak and find a friend that you can completely confide in and they will do the same.

Thanks magikrose..I think it would be too harsh if i just dump him and fine another friend. You think so? I so envy you and your friends. I hope I can have buddies who will be honest and straightforward to me. How do you know if your friend is lying based on his body language?

i know my friend that much so when it comes on lying i know if they tell me some things that are true or not. one thing was that when he/she talks to me and when i look at his/her eyes. it reflects in his/her eyes if he/she's lying or not

hi rhane7315..sometimes, i believe i can see it in his eyes when he's lying. But there are times when he gets too pretentious and even when i look at his eye, he doesn't seem to be lying to me. I really don't know how these two contradicting things happen though. With the way he talks to me, I cannot determine also if he's lying or not. He's just this one-big-mouth guy who has these brain-not-engaged moments.

well..it can't be denied that sometimes our friends really may shows there silly side of their character ITs good that you had known that character for the first place ...**
you don't have to worry at all..**
Just see to it that you had exemplary contented the relationship and or friendship that binds both you and your friend....JUSt take it easy..

Thanks minamikesh! Yes we do have a great relationship but his lying gets in the way and ruins the friendship a lot of times. Have you experienced the same?
