NO dreams, NO future~~~

One of my best friends has been, since our highschool years, a madman, or a lunatic(if the words are offensive to him, I am sorry). It was a long painful process for a boy to be insane. He suffered a lot and still suffers. Because I have been with him since then except when we went to college separately, I witnessed all. He left school for the disease, and still can't get out of it. He was of an introvert kind. He was unable to be as same as his classmates, e.g.,wearing the same shoes like his mates, living the same way as his friends, because his family could not provide those for him as they are poorer than others. He became silent and drew back into his own world. I just saw and couldn't help. We originally didn't think that was something about insanity. Now he is still a quiet man, with a ordinary job and a good temper, but who knows, maybe he is distorted by the society. He dare not hang out with us, because he may be uneasy and can feel that others are looking at him as if he was a thief. He has to keep normal by taking several pills everyday, which are expensive and torturing. That means he has to take the tablets everywhere with him whenever he goes to the place that he does not belong to. And the medicine will be a close friend of him for the rest of his life. But he is an ordinary man, with the same emotion, among which longing for love takes its place. He wants to love someone and be loved, get married, have a baby and lead a tranquil yet unsmooth life with the ones he loves ahd cares. But it seems far away. I don't know how it is like in western countries for the mentally ill people. The condition in China is terrible for those people and the discrimination against them is heavy. The people are wandering, begging and dying in streets. They, if are vilent-type lunatics, tender to kill others innocent. "There is not future to say, " once he told me. And he said it will not be unexpected that one day when he was old and couldn't afford the expensive medicine, he would end up wandering as a mad old beggar without people's even a bit care. I think he may be exaggerative, but to some extent, that make sense. How do you think about it? How can we find a solution for the people?
