Well you might want to check out Associatedcontent. If you can write good, informative articles you can make quite a bit from them!
At A.C. every article you get published makes "performance payment." That means you earn money as more people read your article. Like Helium.
But unlike Helium, at A.C. your articles also have the potential to earn you "Upfront Payment." The amount can differ depending on how good your article is, how well it is written, subject matter, etc. The site will decide how much they want to pay you for it. I have had 2 articles accepted for Upfrotn Payment. For one I got $4.26, and the other got me $3.88. The site asks you if you accept these prices, or if you would like to edit your article to try and increase the number. After a price is accept the upfront payment is sent right to your paypal account.
But not all articles can earn you Upfront payments. They don't except reviews, fictional, or most/all opinionated writing.

Sorry I also meant to say that when an article is approved for an upfront payment, it also continues to earn you money with the performance payment =P

Yes, I've noticed that unless Helium is running a special promotion, the earnings there aren't too good. I havent' ventured much into the Marketplace articles as they don't seem to be topics that I'm too familar with.

Look up Reviewstream.com and Payperpost,I haven't made much money with them yet but I haven't been working very hard. Sad that Reviewstream has minimum payout of $50

I've been writing for Suite 101 for about a year now. I've got 80 articles on it and have earned a little over $950.
It's not enough to retire, but I've been paid every month since I've been there. The longer the articles stay there, the more you earn.

Helium recently ran a special promotion where they paid anywhere from $1 to $3 per article depending on your rating, but I don't know how often they do this kind of thing.
We recently relocated to a very rural area for my husband's employment, and to find a position in my field would mean driving a substantial distance. With fuel prices what they are, we have decided that I will do what I can from home instead.

Thanks - that's reassuring! I just started here and haven't had a chance to see what I can do with it.

I've just started Associated Content. That site is set up differently than what I am used to. Usually with most sites, your content will be submitted almost immediately. I had to wait for a couple of weeks. I finally heard from them sometime this week. I even signed up for Constant Content. I've yet post anything on there so I can't tell you how that's going. For a year now, I have been with Helium. It has its ups and downs, though. Mostly downs. But, I'm still hanging in there.
