On the inside, palm side of my hand. Right where the thumb attaches. I have one on the side of my calf and one on my arm just below the shoulder. They were nothing compared! It took my a quarter oz and 5 fat lines to make it through it. And it is not big!

My daughter got a baby tiger on her ankle when she was 16. I had bruises for 2 weeks! lol Then she got a vine wrapping around her whole ear at 23. She had to have the artist stop a couple of times because it tickled so much she started laughing! So she decided a few months later to get a tree frog on the top of her foot. The frog is done, but she probably won't get the limb done. It hurt too bad to get what is done already.

Just found this discussion, neat! The one that hurt the most for me was my sparrow on my shoulder, and I think that was because I was pregnant and didn't know it at the time and my pain sensitivity was all kookie! Either that or I'm a wuss when it comes to my shoulder blade. My ones that hurt the least are the 2 I have on my hip area.... heh...

I have four tattoos, on my upper arms, and the most painful wasn't the actual tattooing but afterwards. I had a little dragon tattoo done and, due to me being a bit of a muppet, I didn't put any healing cream on it and a little tiny section of it became quite inflamed. Boy did that hurt.

WEll I only have one and that is on my chest - right where the cleavage is when wearing a low cut top! It is really easy to cover up if I want but it does get a lot of attention when it is on show! I have to say that it wasn't very painful to get done - it is a green Celtic love cross and the worst part was getting the outline done - it was a bit niggly but not painful! xxx

Your side hurt really bad? Hmm. I was going to have my childrens names tattooed down my side. Now I am re-thinking it! I don't really know where else to put it though. Maybe down my spine. I want it to look like this:
C
H
A
N
D
L
E
R
and so on and so forth. I have 4 children and none of them had very short names.
So far I have tattoos on my left hip, my lower back, my left wrist and my right butt cheek.
I think out of those places, my wrist hurt the most. Of course it could be that I just remember it hurting the most because it is the most recent!

I think you should still get it on your side! It is painful, but not that bad.. I just wish I had done mine in two sessions instead of one, but I got through it without crying so I think that's pretty good! haha

My ankle was the worst. I have heard from many that the two worst spots are the ankle and the rib cage. I have a friend that got a water design with sea horses on her side and she said she cried it hurt so bad!

I don't like needles, therefore, I don't have tats. Bad enough when I have to get bloodwork done or get a tetanus shot.

Wel, it actually depends a lot on where you get one done and your personal thresh hold of pain. My tiger on my leg and my frog on my foot hurt real bad, but my ear actually tickled.

My most painful tattoo so far was the one on my upper back, between my shoulder blades. Of course, it's also my biggest tattoo thus far (at least 8 inches wide, and about 5 or 6 inches high), so that's probably why it hurt the most. It really wasn't too bad until she got to the coloring and shading, though, because that involved going over the already tender skin many many times.
My fiance said his ribcage was his worst. It probably doesn't help that he's skinny as a rail and his ribs show through his skin even when he's relaxing.

I don't have tattoos, so I can't really answer this question, but I would like to ask one of my own.
If it's going to hurt, why do it?

I can't imagine getting a tattoo, or wearing one! I can imagine what an old faded Tattoo looks like! I've seen them many times, and they are very unsightly. Faded Glory is a brand of Jeans, but could be stretched to include old Tattoos! Hurts like hell to have them removed too! It's my belief that God did a Pretty good job of designing our Physical Bodies. Who in their right mind would even think of trying to make improvements?
