There are so many being talked about and advertised - which works the best?

I have had some success with the Atkins diet, but after a while it is difficult to maintain as it cuts out some foods completely, and becomes unbalanced.
I think the best diet is one which contains variety, lots of fruit and vegetables, plenty of water, and lots of exercise.
I am working on restricting my intake of rice, bread, pasta, and potatoes, but not cutting them out completely. I am eating more protein and more fruit. As summer is just round the corner, many fruits are becoming more widely available, which makes it that bit more interesting.
All the best with your efforts.

I am finding now that if I limit the amount of meat I eat, and eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruit, I do pretty well. I have also pretty much eliminated any kind of soda and am not drinking much tea or coffee either.

The most effective weight-loss program are those which you don't need to pay a dime. You don't need to pay in order for you to exercise and lose weight. You learned those simple physical exercise when you were young, so let's do some jogging, calisthenics, stretching, some sit ups, push-ups, running, etc.

Probably so - I'm just not disciplined enough to do it - obviously, or I wouldn't need to be on a diet!

I think a lot of diets can work, it just depends on the person doing it. I did weight watchers awhile back and I lost 25 pounds. my friend did it with me but she wasn't as successful. I think that you just have to stick too whatever you feel most comfortable trying. Weight watchers worked for me because I could still eat what I wanted as long as I stayed within my points for the day.

That shouldn't be hard = since there's supposed to be a shortage right now!

I have success with a low carb diet. I am diabetic, so this is the recommend diet for me. If you follow a low carb diet correctly you will lose weight.
You can eat a wide range of foods too, even fruit. You just have to chose fruits lowest in sugar like berries, canteloupe, and such.
If you are diabetic, your meter will be your guide as to what foods you can and can not eat. Always check to see what a particular food is doing to your boday, especially when trying fruits, whole grains, and any snacks. Even though something says no sugar, doesn't mean it's low in carbs.
When I stick to my low carb diet I lose weigh and feel better in general. It is not easy to do, but if you can, it will work.
