Hey folks, I just want to know your opinion. We've seen this sports evolved from the era of Royce Gracie to Don Frye to Mark Coleman, Vitor Belfort, Tito Ortiz, and up to the top fighters nowadays. But who among them do you think best displays the core of mixed martial arts? Who is the best person with a balance of "Ground and Pound", "Submission", "Striking", and "Grappling" abilities? It's fun to share different insights in this sport... don't be shy and share yours. ;) As the big "J" McCarthy always says : "LET'S GET IT ON!"

I've said it a million times, and i'll say it again.... Bas Rutten would be one of the best out there. He was really the first to bring everything to the table as a mixed martial artist.
I would also put BJ Penn in there as well, he can knock you out, or submit you.
