Yeee hawwww! Well that's what Buster would be saying if he could speak actually. it's that time of year for him to shed his winter coat. And it is a lot of fur flying daily too. My wife sits outside on the back steps after breakfast and brushes him each day for the past few days. Buster loves it as he lays there or sits there just enjoying thre feel of the bristles against hias fur and skin. And I have heard it can be sued in my compost bin as well. Woooo Hooo! Thank you Buster. Now maybe we will have less fur on the couch and fllors etc. How bad is your dog shedding? Do you brush them daily or weekly or not at all? Do they like being brushed? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

my beautiful white poodle - this is my poodle. I like it very much.
Haha, this is the way you help Buster get rid of the winter coat by brushing him each day? It is fun, but we have never done so to our poodle as the snow white hair him makes him look very beautiful. Happy posting, Grandpa Bob.

I have a Beagle myself. I am honestly tired of combing the hair off of her. Heck, she sheds every season, but losing that winter coat is the worst. My hands actually goes numb from combing her and the hair is winning the war. So I comb when I can get her outside to let me, and vaccum a lot to keep lose hair around the house to a low level. We have a lab/Aus. Shepard mix, and she sheds as well, but her hair is easier to remove with a comb. The beagles, I get static when I'm combing her, which makes removing hair even harder. Do you have that problem with Buster and if so, how do I get rid of it, so I can brush her better. Oh our beagle (Ladybug) doesn't like to be brushed all the time. She's going on 10 and acts like she should be left alone, while the mix (Shiloh) loves it.

Oh yeah, Sherlock is sure shedding. All over my carpet, any shirt I might be wearing, it is pretty insane. I do brush him sometimes, but most often I get one of those lint rollers, and roll it all over his back. It get A LOT of the loose hair off, and it doesn't bother him at all. He prefers to be brushed, but I always have to show him the brush before I do it. He doesn't like being surprised. : )

My dog usually sheds about twice per year. He should start shedding at any time but we try to keep his hair cut short for the summer because of it and he also gets so hot too easily also. We cut his hair a couple time per year and let him fully hair out for the winter. He gets a bath once per week and brushed. I like it when his hair is soft after being brushed.

Well I don't have doggies but two pampered kitties...and it amazes me that for only two cats the fur is flying around here too...My one cat Kissy LOVES to be brushed and is a real ham about it...she turns her body this way or that way as if to say, "could you get this spot?" Pyewacket? Nope...he runs like blazes when he sees the brush

Buster doesn't listen to my wife very well. She will call and call and he kind of laffs at her. I go out and call him once and he sits beside her awaiting his brushing. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah well you can imagine the hair in my house hense why we went with wood floors easier to pick up the animal hair. Tyler likes to brush sam sometimes but sam doesnt care to sit still long enough.

My cats have been shedding like made for months. But Nino hasn't been shedding correctly and he's had what ammounts to matts, and considering that he's a short haired cat, very odd. This isn't the first time I've had a short haired cat do this, but this time I was ready. I grabbed the bush and started brushing him. He loved it, unlike Sassy when I had to do it to her. Serena also got some after her bath, and I almost had to chase her around to get her brushed out.

I never knew that AGB - see you teach me something new everyday sweety! lol I don't have a dog but I have a very fluffy cat. How often do I brush her? Never - she would scratch my eyes out! xxx

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Our dogs do shed their fur/hair a lot during summer months. They do love being brushed, I guess it massages them and relaxes them. They usually sit still when we do that to them every other day or sometimes twice a week only. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day!

A German shepherd sheds really bad and so I spent over 40.00 for a hair brush for her and the cat plus a comb to clean the brushes..And it was a great investment, these special brushes get the hair out really well. I do brush her daily, (noticed I said I, like no one in this household can brush the dog), and I am happy to say that we don't have a lot of fur flying..

My dog has been shedding, sometimes it is worse than others. He never used to shed when he was younger but now that he is older his coat is drier and he does shed. i have been adding some sunflower oil to his food because i heard that is supposed to help with shedding.

Our dog is short-haired so there's not much diffrence at the moment. We just got our first week of really warm weather here in UK and she likes to sneak off and sun herself on the back lawn. Howevere the cat is another matter! His winter caot has gone thick and matted and now he's old he doesn't seem to ant to groom himself so my missus has been hard at him with the comb! He seems to enjoy it too, just purrs away as he'd de-fluffed.

I used to take the vacuum cleaner attachments to my dog. She loved it, the suction would get so many of the loose hairs, it helped so much. She was a white shepard and I had dark colored carpet. I was constantly vacuuming the floor. She would ahake and gobs of hair would fly. Buster does look handsome sitting there.

Our dogs dont seem to shed too much hair. The dalmation especially I dont notice his hair shedding. The mini fox terrier sheds a little. I notice if if I pick her up & cuddle her as I get hair on my short. I just brush it off. My cats on the other hand, shed a lot of fur. One of them is a long haired cat, & we get LOTS of fur on our bed. I brush it off regularly.

Oh how fun! My dog Liza used to shed terrible--- We would brush her 2 times a day-- She is in doggie heaven now :( Carmen our other dog is a boxer so she does not shed! No brushing- Our cats both are shedding terribly this year- it's all over the floor and the furniture! I am vacuuming daily and I hate it! I'm going to go look for a shedding comb for the cats and comb them!

Time to give Buster a bath but first go to the pet shop or local feed store and buy a "shedding blade". It is a piece of metal with notches on one side and plastic handles at both ends. It is usually doubled over to make a hoop or u shaped tool that works great on wet fur. I can usually shed our short hairs out in 2 secessions.

Yeup, Domingo is shedding up a storm as well, a black storm, that is. I'm having my daughter swiffer daily now till his seasonal shedding is done. Our tan kitchen floor and carpet look more black that tan till the floors are cleaned. Ran out of vacuum bags already with all the fur I'm vacuuming up on a daily basis. Since he's had 3 bathes already in 2 wks, I was able to get alot out of him already but he's still shedding. Been brushing him almost daily as well. I heard that sweaters can be made out of dog fur. Would be neat to find someone who does this and give them all his fur to make a nice warm sweater for me.

We have a black lab puppy and an older black lab mix. The puppy loves water and loves to be brushed. The older one hates water - especially baths - and runs when she sees the brush! The pup doesn't seem to shed near as bad as the other one, but they both still leave plenty behind! They're not allowed on the furniture, except for one certain old loveseat that has a blanket on it, so I just take the blanket off and wash it to get rid of the hair. Our house is also predominantly wood floors, so the hair doesn't stick like it does on the carpet. I've also always found that as long as I feed a good, high quality dog food, they shed less. If I happen to have to pick up something else in a pinch, within a few days, I've got a lot more hair to clean up. I know I'm ready to shed MY winter coat! Just about the time I think it's safe to put it away, we get another cold spell!

You could make a fur blanket big enough for a King sized bed out of the fur my dog sheds. There are times when it looks like a little black animal of some sort blew up on the carpet. He is a 120 lb black lab and, I swear he never stops shedding but, come February or March, he starts and, it is a mess. My hubby vacuums and within 5 minutes, it looks like he hasn't vacuumed in a week. My hubby takes him outside and, when Frizbee starts shedding, the hubby doesn't even need a brush. He can just either pet Friz or gently pull at his hair and it will come out. Then, it looks like a small black animal blew up in my backyard. Frizbee has mixed reactions to being brushed. He gets a little torqued about it for some reason. Sometimes he likes it but, other times he wants nothing to do with that brush and the hubby has to hold onto his collar while brushing him. I don't know why. Maybe he doesn't like the idea of losing his hair. I don't get it! LOL! Other times, he likes to be brushed. Weirdo! LOL!

That is the only reason I don't miss my Black Lab, otherwise, I miss him terribly. Shady loved being brushed thou. He would stand for hours if he could and would go nuts whenever he saw me get his brush out. What type of brush are you using on Friz? Could be the brush hurts his skin which is why he doesn't like being brushed. It may not hurt him much when he's seasonal shedding but does other times when his coat is thinner. Shady hated the slicker and pin brush cause it hurt him but when I bought a shedding blade that they use on horses, he loved it being the teeth are very short but very effective on short/med. haired dogs/horses. I also used a rubber horse curry comb on him which he loved as well being it massages the skin as well as pulling all the loose fur out. He was also weird in that he loved to be vacuumed with a rubber attachment that came with my Kirby vacuum.

I don't know what kind of brush it is but, I know the bristles are fairly soft because I made sure we didn't get one that might hurt him. He is just fickle. A very strange dog. LOL! That is weird that your dog likes the vacuum too. My dog, as big as he is, is terrified of the vacuum. He is bigger than that thing but, you would think he is a mini pincher by the way he reacts to the vacumm. LOL!
