I've just started a pair for my hubby, after having put one aside coz of some issues.
The thing is this: I can't seem to get the right fit - it's always ALWAYS too small or the toe is too pointy.
(I like to start my socks toe-up...easier that way, IMHO).
My current sock is at 2.75mm, fingering yarn and at least 96 stitches total. I'm hoping that this pair will fit but still...any tips for what I'm going through?
How do I get socks for men to fit my man?????

I've never knitted socks from the toe up, but one way to make sure they fit is to measure his foot. Measure around the largest part (ball of the big toe) and measure the length. Figure how many stitches you need and make sure you have that many for the foot part. (If your gauge is 8 st=1 inch and his foot is 10 inches around, then you'd need 80 stitches - be sure and check your gauge.) The toe shouldn't be more than 1 1/2 inches from the first decrease (or last increase, if you measure from the toe up). You may have to increase faster than a pattern says to make it fit right.
Hope this helps, but sometimes all we can do is experiment until it works out right. Write down everything you do so that when it does come out right, you can duplicate it.
