MAT1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli And it doesn't stop there....in both of these locations, after speaking of who the father of Joseph is, all of the names are different through the family line. So who was the father of Joseph? This is just a little bit of the mass amounts of things that I found wrong....I am a believer in God or a Higher Power, but it is things like this that seems to prove that the bible wasn't written by the Holy Ghost through man because if God or the Holy Ghost had anything to do with it, the information would be correct and consistent throughout, wouldn't it? Assuming the God does not make mistakes. Does anyone offer an explaination for this?

I'm with you all the way on this. I am willing to believe that the four gospels are the honest (albeit occasionally erroneous by human nature) testimonies of four men, and would rather believe in Jesus than not believe. I have rock-steady faith in the Creator because of cellular biology (among other sciences), and because of my experiences since the numinous, but insufficient evidence of the Christ Himself. I believe very little of Moses' works, such as the six-day creation (be it 144 hours or 6,000 earth years), oblivious to the Mesozoic era, and the mentioning of unicorns. I do believe in Noah's flood, because there is evidence in the soil in Iraq of a flood that lasted approximately 40 days (according to the History Channel). Experts also believe that, if there was a Christ, He was probably born somewhere around July, rather than December 25, the birth date of Mithra the pagan sun god.

Its becouse the origanal translation of this has been lost. One line is thrugh his Mother, the other is thrugh Joseph, althogh th e line of Joseph is a ill leigitamit line as the son given of Solomon thrugh his line was dis in herited. Plus in jewish tradition the blood line is thrugh the mother. Her line is the corect line to follow. Mat 1:16 should read that Jacob was the father of Mary whos husband was Joseph by whom Jesus was born. The translation was changed early in church history, mainly becouse of a missinterpitaion of a greek verb 'genneo' wich is an active indicative. And other words that are not used in english. This is why there appears to be two seperate bloodlines steming from Joseph, Luke (wich was writen by a gentile) and therefor uses the masculine bloodline, and mathew (writen by a Jewish Person) follows the mother of the childs bloodline) You see it is like this, The birth right comes from the father, so jesus received his birth right from his father, But what makes a person a jew or hebrew is his mothers blood, ask any Jew.
