United States

Thought I was getting 900 only got 600. So sad, I've been out of work since January, so I have to live on this. Got a letter yesterday that we are behind on rent so there goes my money and my boyfriends. Wanted to actually do something fun with the money, thats not going to happen. What are all of you doing with yours? Shopping, saving, bill paying, putting it all in the gas tank?

We will probably use ours for another car. But I wonder why everyone was lead to believe they would get 900, but they are only getting 600? Does anyone know the answer to that??

It depended on how much you made last year and how many children you have. I thought I made enough for the 900 because I have one qualifing child. Cool about the car.

Sweet, did you use the IRS calculator to find out your estimate? Being single and having a child, $600 would be the right amount depending on how much you made ($300 for single, $300 for your child).

Did you check at irs.gov? Because I also have a qualifying child, and so we are getting 1,200, 600 for adult and 600 for the child. But somehow I thought it was 900 per adult and 600 per qualifying child..

We're expecting 1500, thought we would be getting it today but found out since we used Turbo Tax and paid our fees out of our refund that we won't be getting direct deposited it, which is how we receive our refund! It will be paying off a couple bills, upgrading our cell phones, and having a lil fun!

I thought that too, but if ours was direct deposit it should have hit our account today and as of 5 this afternoon it was not there. I don't think the government did a very good job of informing people about that kind of stuff!

I didnt think that mattered about Turbo Tax. Direct deposit is direct deposit, it really shouldnt matter. Hopefully it wont take too long for you to get it.

We are moving in May and need to pay two months worth of rent to break our current lease so the $900 we are expecting is going towards that.

If we were not breaking out lease it would not be bad. The movers are only $525, the deposit on the new place was only $400. We are causing the expensive part by breaking our lease.

So that helps you out alot. Moving is so expensive.

Mine was less than I thought that it would be too. I only got $900 and thought that I would get $1200. Oh well. It will still help with vacation money.

We won't get our stimulus payment until June 20th. People are thinking they are getting back more than they are becuase they are not figuring the refund right. It says UP To $600 per adult you are not guranteed $600 it depends on your tax return from 2007 you also get $300 per child so here is a link to the calculator to see how much you will get http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ I thought we would get $1800, ($1200 for couple and $600 for our two children) but that is not the case I did the calculator and we are getting back $1200 that is where the UP TO $600 per adult and UP TO 41200 per couple comes in hope that helps out a little.

The government always has a way of giving you less than they promise. The first requirement of being a politician is that you have to be able to look someone in the eye and lie to them. It is sad that our country is run by people who go back on their word constantly. I am paying off credit cards with mine. Hopefully, I will get back enough to pay off a couple of them. I am supposed to get back $1200, but I am not holding my breath on that until I get the check. As mentioned earlier, we know how the government is. It is nice of "Uncle Sam" to pay those cards off for me like that, though. Unfortunately, I will likely have to use the cards again to pay $3.60 per gallon for gas so that I can go to work and try to earn a living. I guess we can't win either way, but we have to keep trying.

I so agree about the politicians lieing to us. Your vote has to be based on who do you think is lieing the least. $3.60 a gallon wow, we are at $3.69 already.

It was $3.60 the last time I bought gas, but that was a couple of days ago. I don't know what it is now. Probably higher now. Where are you from?

$600 is better than the nothing that would have come without the "stimulus package".

Very true, I really would have been "up the creek" if I got nothing.

Hi sweetcake. Whenever I get a stimulus package or extra money in terms of this, I would save some and spend the rest. The ratio would have to be 70-30. Means saving 70% and spending 30%. I know this discussion was a year back but I think in future I might be getting some more of such package and I would want to spend wisely this time. Have a nice day.

I am also going to use my for bills. I have been out of work as well. It always seems like everytime I get a little bit extra I have to use it for bills. For once I would just like to use it for some fun.

I understand. When I first heard about it I thought, "Finally some fun", boy was I wrong.
