I've just read they're going to release a sequel called S.Darko... they're starting filming on May 18th.
IMHO it will be totally useless!!!
The good thing is that maybe this could be a second promotion for DD so people that never heard about it could have a chance to know it ;-)

I think that is a terrible idea... The movie cannot be added to. It is what it is and should be left alone. Ugh! What a stupid idea, if you ask me. I would not want to see it either.

Yeah, his little sister on a road tripe with a friend and they start seeing weird things...sounds horrible. Mainly the horrible thing is that Richard Kelly, the guy who made the first one, has nothing to do with it. I mean, if HE were to make a sequel it might make sense.
S. Darko is the current titles...which probably stands for Samantha Darko, his sister's name.

the fact that this is more than likely going to be a straight to dvd release should, for the most part, be a good reason for most to not watch the movie. add in the fact that, like most of you know, kelly has nothing to do with the movie and you have a recipe for "movie most likely to end up in the bargain bins at your local movie store." i'll probably still watch it just because i hate myself.

I loved Donnie Darko so I'm not against them coming out with a sequel... All sequels were not created equally. I like the Halloween sequels and I am also a pretty big fan of the sequel to House of 1000 Corpses (The Devil's Rejects). I am interested to see what this new Donnie Darko movie is all about.

Lame. So, lame. But, that's Hollywood for you. I can't believe I'm hearing about this and yet I'm not at all surprised. Hollywood has been remaking so many movies that end up crappy. So, this really sucks. Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies of all time. And now they are probably going to butcher this one. It was one of my first independent film favorites. And now they will most likely make it more 'Hollywood'. This is really a shame. Nothing has been left untouched in Hollywood.

I was shocked the hear about it. I read somewhere that the richard kelley (the director of the first) thinks its a bad idea, too.
At least they got the same girl who played his sister in the first one to come back. But unfortunately the did not get the same frank :/
I agree with, however, you that it may get more people to hear about the first.

I don't know what to think of it. On the one hand Richard Kelly has claimed no affiliation with it (other than creating Samantha's character), which is terribly concerning. Daveigh Chase is returning as Samantha Darko and that is a plus. The plot summary on IMDb kind of looks like a re-hashing of the original - Samantha and her best friend are stranded in the desert when a meteorite crashes near them. Samantha starts having visions of the end of the universe. Big fat minus. I will probably see it because I am a glutton for punishment.
