Being a music lover implies that you enjoy music, not that you necessarily play an instrument. Music is more that just a skill people have and attain - it is an aesthetic and an form of entertainment which one does not have to take part in on a performance level in order to appreciate it and get something positive out of it. One can be a listener, one can dance to it, or one can play it as a source of emotional comfort or personal inspiration. The great thing about music is that it can serve a purpose during every occasion that can be appreciated. Loving something is about having some kind of passion for it, not necessarily knowing how to do it yourself.

Millions of people all over the world do love listening to and playing music. Some are more gifted in this area, like those who are able to play musical instruments such as drums, cymbals, tambourines, guitars, violins, harp, piano, organ, harmonica, and others which I can't recall at the moment. My siblings know how to play the piano, harmonica, and guitar. But personally, I don't play any of these musical instruments. But eventhough I'm not gifted in this field, I still consider myself as a music lover. And I guess you are, too. Like you, I also love listening to music even at an early age. I believe that even if I don't play any musical instrument, I'm still a music lover simply because I do love music. In particular, I like songs which are soft and smooth, soothing the ears. I love listening to folk and country, light rock, jazz, reggae, and love songs more compared to rock music which I feel are vexations to the spirit. No offense meant for people who prefer and love this type of music but this is just my own opinion.

Of course you are! I grew up in a quite musically talented family (both my parents have very good voices, my dad plays the piano and my sister had piano lessons and was very good before she got bored) and so now I play the flute. I've also dabbled in playing the guitar (didn't work, I got too fed up with having to play right-handed-ly! I figured that if I actually got any good, I'd need to play the right-handed guitars at school, so I couldn't just play a left-handed one) and I play drums in a couple of bands, even though I'm just self-taught and not really very good. But I don't REALLY care about any of those things, so long as I can LISTEN to music. If I could only play music and not listen to it, I just wouldn't even bother with music at all. You definitely don't have to play an instrument to love music, it just so happens that a lot of people DO play instruments.

It doesn't mean that you are not a music lover if you don't know how to play music instruments because as long as you appreciate different genres of music then that means that you are a music lover.

Sure your a music lover. I think just because you don't play any instruments doesn't mean your not a music lover. I love all kinds of music but I can't play any either. I have tried to learn to play the piano but I stink at it and couldn't really learn how to. I think I will stick to just listening to it lol.
