Well I live in Central Washington State USA, and I thought it was still early in the season, but I guess not! Well my daughter was doing a project (or should I say IS) for science and they needed to bring in weeds/plants that are blooming...Well it is still early most are not blooming! LOL Anyway... we walked down to the pond buy our house that is kinda in a tree/weed investided area... We got a few weeds and came home. then About an hour later I decided I was going to get out of my nice clothes and put on a "t" and sweats! I pulled my shirt off over my head and it went inside out and guess what was there... you got it... a tick! ugh.. I was so pissed... so I made everyone strip and throw their clothes in the washer and they all went and took showers! Now I thought it was still to early... I hate ticks!!!!! What do you all think of them? How early is it for them where you live??? What do you do about them?

You are the second person I have heard talk about ticks, although I haven't seen any myself...no complaints there. I am still paranoid on warm days that one might pop on me while I'm working or walking around the yard. I guess it's time we start checking.

I hate ticks! We have bunches of them here. One of the dogs keeps getting them latching on to him even though he already got his tick stuff on him. I pulled a bunch off him the other day while he was crying like a little baby. They don't get to go in the main part of the house and this is one of the reasons why.

If you live in an area that has ticks, you will want to know a very simple way to remove them. This tip came from a good friend of mine that has lots of dogs. Since they live out in the country and the dogs get to roam, they would come home with ticks quite often. According to her vet, "This is the easiest way I've found to remove ticks and it works every time, with no trauma to my patients." Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball for 15-20 seconds, and the tick will come out on its own. It will be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it, and being married to a hunter for over 24 years, that was frequently. I have to say it's much less traumatic than some other solutions I'd been given. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. :)
