she's so picky! Well then, Gus--who will eat anything!--wants it and if there's only a little left I'll let him.
Just now, Cookie finished and left a little bit and I noticed Gus was looking at me with his eyes wide. I looked back and asked him what he wanted because I hadn't checked Cookie's dish. He flicked his eyes over to the bowl than back to me! LOL!! So of course I told him he could lick the bowl clean.
How funny, I laughed and laughed! It was almost human!

dragon, my dogs sometimes also so picky. They wont eat what I gave them for three days except some eggs and cookies. Usually I thought they just bored with the menu I gave them. After a few days usually they will eat what I gave them again. And no, my dogs never ate any veggies, they will left them intact even if i blend them with meat.

Maybe they do get bored sometimes with the same stuff.
Gus will eat anything in sight, I have to watch his weight but Cookie is like your dog--I guess she'll eat when she's hungry!

Are you sure Cookie is 'picky'? Maybe you just give her too much food. I've worked in the pet supply industry and from what people have told me, I know there are a lot of manipulative dogs and cats out there, and a lot of people being duped by these creatures into feeding expensive stuff to pets who are probably on the way to being overweight.
If Cookie leaves food, feed her less next time, as long as her weight is OK. A fat pet is a pet who could well die years early. This is a passion of mine - to teach people to give less food sometimes, love and food are two different things!

Sometimes she eats all her dinner, sometimes she doesn't finish. She doesn't like to eat in the morning, so waits till 5PM which is regular dinner time for the two of them. I give her a cup of food which is actually less than they recommend, she should have a cup and a half, but she gets a small dog biscuit in the morning and one in the afternoon so I have to compensate for that. She looks forward to the biscuits and if I forget she'll sit down next to the counter where I keep them! But no more than two a day, I don't want her to get fat and feel awful.
I know that dogs have their days when they don't want much food but Cookie seems to have a lot of those. She's not over or underweight so I guess she regulates herself. It's Gus I have to watch! He would eat 24/7 if he could.
Thank you for your concern, I truly appreciate it! My dogs are my best friends and I want the best for them so when someone wants to educate me, I'm grateful for it.

Oh hey, here's a picture of Cookie!!
Also, I forgot to mention that the poor little girl was abandoned as a puppy and went through five homes before she arrived at mine. She was, at one point, kept in a small kennel for about 20 hours per day and the woman who gave her to me had to rehabilitate her muscles. She has a very sensitive stomach, probably due to inconsistent feeding or former malnutrition. She's very happy now and the vet says she's healthy, hooray!
I can't imagine why nobody would want this little princess. I'm so blessed to have her, and so is Gus! (Yes, they're both "fixed"!)
