Do you respond to everything you read?

Do you respond to every conversation that you read? Do you only open questions that you are sure you will respond to?
Sometimes as I look through the questions I come across conversations that are interesting and I know I probably won't have a response for them but I can't help but open it to read the whole thing. Do you ever do that?

Hello! I read through discussions knowing I don't have a comment of value, or someone else wrote something similar to what I was thinking, but I do keep reading.
I think I re-worded your question and we're talking about the same thing!
Sometimes I like to read informational discussions to learn from, but I think that's common among mylot members.
Good question. Catch you somewhere later!

I do read almost all the titles of the discussions. Its just that i dont respond to all of them. Some days i wont even feel like responding to a single discussion though i read them all over. It depends on my interest, if i feel there is some thing that i can share in the discussion then will drop a response. At the same time i dont mean the discussions which i dont respond arent good. It is that i dont have an interest in all the discussions i read. I just read the discussions and if i have anyting to learn from them fine i will just grasp it and then go on to find some discussions which are of my interest.

I can't stand not being able to read the whole discussion so I open them just to finish finding out what people are talking about. But I only respond to the ones that catch my attention or are questions like yours where it's a question of, "I wonder if I'm the only one on the planet who does that..." So I respond quite a bit actually :P

That is so funny. That is exactly why I wrote this question. I was wondering if I was the only one who did this. The fact that you stated it made me laugh. Thank you

I'm glad I could make you smile :D I spend most days on mylot wondering if I am the only one on the planet. And it is quite apparent by all of your responses that your question hit a good point. People will respond just because it's morbid curiosity on how others really do their daily business on mylot. Have a wonderful day :D

No, I don't. To be honest, sometimes I think I spend more time looking for an interestind discussion than writing. Some of the topics are so repetitive, sometimes silly, that I waste my time browsing for one that will catch my eye.
Also, I have opened discussions that I find interesting, read the responses, but since everything I want to say have already been said, I don't bother leaving a response. So yes, I sometimes open discussions knowing that I probably won't respond to.
Some people would say I'm wasting my time. I should be busy writing responses or starting discussions, but just like you, I just sometimes browse.

I read alot of discussions but only respond to what I know I'd like to talk about...or know something that someone else hasn't previously stated.

Hello sisterjinx,
I do not respond to every conversation that I read. In fact, many a time, I go to discussions where I already know that I won't be responding. I am not that knowledgeable in many fields, but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't acquire knowledge when the opportunity presents itself. So, many times, I go to discussions just for the sake of learning. And, as I am ignorant in those fields, it is unlikely that I'll be leaving a response, even though sometimes, I finally decide to give some perspective.
Sometimes, when I have read a discussion, I feel that there is nothing that I can add that may interest poster or any other person. So, I'll come out of it without responding. Sometimes, I do respond though, just to support my friends.
Moreover, even though I have something to say in some discussion as regards to the matter being discussed, I feel that there is a huge cultural and societal gap such that people wouldn't be able to comprehend unless I give all the background details and perspective that I don't always feel like giving. Again, I come out of them without responding.
Some discussions are about peoples' personal experiences, social realities in the part of the world they live, I read these discussions to know the trends in those societies and how people live there and what problems they encounter living there. And, since I can't offer a relevant advice or help, I don't respond.
There are some others reasons too, for which I read a discussion without leaving my response!

Some things I respond to, if I can understand the purpose, or if it relates to something I know.
Sometimes people leave topics that really don't make sense. Others leave topics that one cannot
understand what is being asked. I just answer to what I can. If I can't, it's not that I'm not interested it's that many times I don't know how to respond to it.

I do not respond to every conversation, but I certainly respond to the good majority of them. I cannot just answer to everything, I have to have an interest in it or be able to say something about it and identify with it in some way, but most I come across are interesting in some way.
I do tend to read a lot rather than respond to them, I enjoy reading some of them, especially the ones where the discussion gets really good and there are lots of people joining in.

As a general rule I respond to everything I read, but there is an odd discussion or two that I don't respond too, either because I can't think of anything valid to say or because I am scared that my opinion will upset that person and I don't want to do that unnecessarily.

I am pretty sure with the consistent posting, there would be no physical way for you to respond to ALL the questions. I just respond to what I think is interesting or funny.

I only respond if I think I have something worthwhile to contribute or can think of a response quickly and easily. There are some i don't respond to because i think they might end up getting deleted, others I don't respond to because I follow the "if you can't think of anything nice to say then don't say it at all" philosophy.
Many dicussions are repetitive also, I know I have asked duplicate questions before not realizing anyone else has asked them before.

I read each post in my email notifications of new discussions started by my friends, but I don't respond to all of them.
Sometimes I read and rate responses in a discussion without joining in, out of interest, especially if it is about something I have limited knowledge of.
I often go back to a discussion I have already responded to and will read the responses posted after mine.
I like reading news article posts but don't always add a response and I enjoy reading about other people's life experiences.

No, I will I will only respond if it something that I know that I can give an answer to. I only respond, when I know that I can help someone else out with a problem that they are having. I try to read the question before making a statement. That way, I can give the person the right advice.
