Because without the pesticides and weed killers and growth hormones, you get less per acre because they die and/or produce less. Also, without those things, there is more work by humans to get what yield you do. You have to weed the rows, you have to keep the bugs from eating everything. It is all a lot more work to get organic food, so it costs more.
Pesticides, weed killer and growth hormones are actually very cheap, especially spread out over a huge crop. Plus, the yield is greater, so the cost of product used on each item is negligible.
If everyone stuck with only organic methods, the current food crisis would be much worse because there would be a lot less food. We have as much as we do thanks to pesticides, weed killers and growth hormones.

I know that some organic foods are quite expensive in comparison with other foods, but I would not say almost 50% more. I suspect there are lots of hidden costs in producing organic foods.
I am in favour of organic, but try to balance this with being economic with my pennies. I tend to buy a handful of organic products when I shop for food, mainly fruit and veg. I do not see the need to go for all organic with all of my shopping. I can't afford it.

I agree with the important facts about organic foods. However they are worth the great health though. They are more expensive than anything else. I rather shop for my regular food. My exgirfriend still depends upon organic stuff and formulas and certain meds due to her health problems she was born with.

I think organic food costs a little more than regular food. Well, organic food has different effects than regular food. I do not go with organic at all. I only go with regular stuff. I think organic stuff are expensive. What do you think.
