Why can't you ever stop eating Pringles?

You know the advertising campaign for Pringles, "once you pop, you just can't stop" (or words to that effect). And I find it's so true. I tell myself I'm just going to have one, and then two, and I end up eating half the tube! Why is it so hard to stop eating them? (And is anyone able to resist them?)

I find that pringles is hard to resist too! Once I start eating, I will continue eating the rest of it Most of my friends found that it's the same for them as well. Therefore, I think what pringles claims "once you pop, you just can't stop" is quite true.

Yes, or are we just doing it because they keep telling us that!? (see post below!) I think it just happens to everyone, I don't know many people who don't like Pringles. I used to not like them much but they got to me in the end and now I'm brainwashed like everyone else ! Thanks for your response.

I know there is just something about the taste of Pringles that makes you want to keep eating them,I dont know what it is but I will go to eat a couple and then I will look and almost all will be gone,I think its something about the way they are made, and also maybe the commercial is some kind of subliminal message that bores into your head that you need to keep eating them, so that way you will buy more of them, and the Pringles company will make a lot of money.

Yes, I was starting to wonder whether we've all just got that subliminal message in our head now, and we're just sort of being hypnotised into believing that we can't stop eating them. I have to admit that as I'm typing now there is a half-finished tube of cream cheese and chive pringles on the table, and it was full less than 10 minutes ago. I must resist the rest of the tube... Thanks for your answer.

I think it's partly because they aren't as greasy as regular ships and they have the perfect amount of salt on / in them. With so many different flavors to choose from everyone has their favorite.

Yes, they do have a really good texture. It's funny, before I liked them so much I thought that the texture was really artificial, the way it doesn't resemble potatoes very much, unlike normal crisps/chips. But now this is one of the things that really appeals to me, the fact that they're not greasy but nicely crunchy, and that some of the flavour comes off on your tongue! And they just taste so nice.

I have no idea why either but they are good. No matter what flavor they are once you start it is hard to stop eating them. I could be something that they put in them for them to be that addictive. You feel like you have to make yourself stop eating them. Saying to yourself just a few and before you realize it you have eaten half the tube. Have you ever noticed that they only come in one tube; not a double tube. For twice your money but one tube to make you buy more than one. Cause you already know that you have to buy more than one tube cause once you start you have to have an extra just incase you eat the first tube you have another.

Yes, I do that too, saying I'll just have one more, then two more and it's never-ending! Yes, we always decide to buy more than one tube, so this "two for the price of one" offer that they have in some supermarkets here is quite useful!

Ooops I have to be the one to beg to differ here I find myself in the aisle looking at the savoury snacks craving a Pringle. Get them home eat a few and then i think why did I want these so bad? It's really weird when I have eaten a few I have gone right off them as they one of the more processed snacks around and yet a few weeks later I'll be gazing at them with a craving again. Odd very odd!

I must say, I used to be like that too. Because they're so processed it put my right off them and while my husband loved them I couldn't understand it. But as he's continued to buy them over the last few years they've grown on me! So beware!!

It's very true. For me, I am all about Lays chips. I can't stop eating those at all. I literally have to find a way to keep my mind distracted from eating them. When I'm eating Pringles, I grab a fistful and practically shove them down my throat. Then I reach in and grab another. I guess chips are one of my many weaknesses.

Oh I can definitely relate! I tried Lays when I was in America and I found them to be addictive too. I have to actually ban myself from buying other crisps/chips as I just eat far too many otherwise and I don't want to get to the situation where they are the main component in my diet!! To be honest the only reason we buy Pringles is because my husband likes them, but it usually me who ends up eating most of them because of this addiction! If he didn't like them I would probably stay away from those too! (Now it sounds as if I'm blaming him now for all the Pringles I eat, lol! - but I do recognise that it's really down to me and my lack of self-control ;o)

Yes, I suppose there is a lot of salt in there, and salt definitely makes things taste more attractive. I like the way that the flavour comes off on your tongue, and the whole melting in your mouth thing too! Thanks for your reply, and sorry to tempt you..

Totally agree with you. I just cannot help myself. My favourites are the green ones, sour cream and onion, or chive I think. I can easily eat a whole tube in one sitting. It is so irresistible when they are on offer in the supermarket as well. Buy one get one free, or two for whatever. :)

Yes, I'm completely with you on the green ones. And when I said that I sometimes eat half a tube, I admit I was being a bit economical with the truth, I can eat a whole tube too!! Yes, we keep 'having to' buy two instead of just the one for just this reason. How dare they fuel my addiction in this way, lol!

Pringles is like chocolate, they were so irresistible, I cannot stop eating them. the only solution is do not buy them when you are shopping in a market.
