I have a lot of hobbies that I love doing but here lately all I have done is sew. I have enjoyed myself and got lots of stuff made. I am not the best sewer in the world and really doubt I will ever be extraordinary at it. But it is something that i really enjoy doing. So do you like to sew?

I love it. My mom taught me to sew about 10 years ago when I was in high school. I still have(and even more amazing, can still fit into) the first shift dress that I ever made. I must have 25 dresses like this now and wear them all summer long.
I have made other things as well, such as comforters for our beds, accent pillows for the sofa, drapes for all the windows, and I'm sure there is other stuff I am forgetting. I always go back to making those shift dresses though this time I year. I collect fabric all year long to make these dresses with, and I make about 20 throughout the season.
Since I have to dress up for work, it is nice to be able to just throw on a dress and shoes and not really think about it, but still be dressed up. Plus, whenever anyone compliments the dress, I get to tell them that I made it!

Hehehe, I collect fabric always. I once found at a yard sale the remainder of a bolt of bronzy green satin that is so beautiful I have been saving it for years waiting for the perfect project for it. I buy stuff from thrift stores and yard sales strictly for the fabric. When I move I get rid of tons of stuff, but I never get rid of any fabric, unless it's totally a dud and I can't figure out what ever I was thinking when I saved it. But that doesn't happen too often.

PS: Your dresses sound really interesting! I really want to wear light, easy, summery dresses. It's just that I'm usually doing stuff that involves bending over or crawling around on the ground, and lately I've been climbing trees as well, and dresses don't go with those sorts of activities too well. Of course some might disagree, who maybe like looking at a woman's bare butt while she plays around in the garden or monkeys around in the trees.

I am 40 and I am just now learning to sew. My 14 year old daughter and the internet is teaching me how. My first project was a pillowcase dress and my friend helped me with it. It turned out pretty good. From there I decided to make a QUEEN size rag quilt. It was quite an undertaking. I should have started with a burp cloth! I just finished making 10 walker totes for charity. I hope to learn to make tote/handbags soon.

My sewing room is my favorite room in the house. I make dolls, but I especially love making costumes for them and for myself. I'm getting ready to make myself a pair of red brocade hip-hugger bell bottoms out of an old bunch of drapes. If they were finished I would post a picture of them.

hi there susan,
yes i like to sew, but ive never gotten the time to do it anymore. and i think i have forgotten the different kinds of stiches. when i was in highschool we used to do it often in home economic class and its so fun. and i even do cross-stiches a lot during the summer. i eventually stopped since there are other things to do in the university. my sister had a 'sewing phase', she went gaga over all her clothes and started to buy sequence and beads and etc and she would just sew it all on her clothes. lol. some of it actually turned out pretty well.
happy mylotting

I do like to sew but don't always have a lot of time to do the sewing.
I have got my sewing machine out and my friend has showed me how to use it,so I just need to find something to sew.
I like to hand sew as well.
I also like to sew tapersties. When I was young I used to desgin my own and make them for gifts for people's birthdays and christmas gifts.
I am not very good at sewing but I do enjoy having a go and I don't mind if it doesn't turn out right as longs as I have given it my best shot.

Ohh I love it! I haven't done it in some time now, but I will get back to it. I also love to crosstich. It's a lot like sewing. But these arts keep me at ease. So yes, I love sewing.
