The shock of the day after the match of Chennai Team and Delhi team on 8th May 2008 was Dhoni getting a cheque and honour of being the Man-of-the-match.
There were strong three contenders for this.
First was Albie Morkel for providing the late momentum and giving a life to the score which seemed almost out of reach.
Second was Vidyut who gave the right moment at the start.
Third one is Fleming who continued the momentum.
Others who really contributed for the win are
1. Balaji - Very friendly bowling but had a terrific control in it, runs were contained, wickets were taken.
2. Gony - For bowling and batting.
3. Muttaih Muralidharan for containing the batsmen.
4. S Badrinath for being there at the slog overs and gave the necessary impetus to win the game by making the needed runs, hitting boundary and placing the ball cleverly to finish off the game.
5. Palani Amarnath for not giving too many runs and containing the batsmen.
6. Dhoni can be put here for making those runs and giving negative contribution.
7. Kapugedera - Taking a catch.
8. Raina - Did not do much.
As per above Dhoni is in 9th place, how come he was awarded man-of-the-match is intriguing and shocking.
The chances are that from herein after the other players too may follow his footsteps and may make runs at run a ball. This could be disaster for the team and they may lose the match. Dhoni while batting against Delhi showed how weak he is and possess no technique to convert the balls to single runs if not boundary.
Comparing his batting with the others on that day showed that others played really well then to Dhoni.
Raina and Kapugedera were out going for runs and that is excuseable in this form of game once in a while.
