Frustrated with your own typos and spelling errors?

I've often wished that myLot could implement a spell check feature. This would be great (for me) at least, and would eliminate a lot of typos, and having to edit my topics, responses and comments so closely. It would also be helpful when I'm stumped as to the correct spelling of a word. Well, just recently I've had to switch browsers out of necessity, as my usual one wasn't loading myLot correctly anymore. My sister recommended Firefox. As it turns out, Firefox works very well for me, and a bonus is that they have a built in spell check. When a word is incorrectly spelled, due to a typo or otherwise, it's automatically underlined. I've found this to be of great help, so wanted to pass this along here. Do your own typos and spelling errors annoy you? Would you be willing to change browsers, in order to have this feature? Do you already have spell check in place somewhere else? If so, please share this other option here. Thanks.

When I first read your post a few minutes ago, I kept thinking, but it does have a spell checker. Then it occurred to me that I am using Firefox now, and that has one on it. :) I like the fact that it has the spell checker on it, as its now 4am here, and my spelling is going downhill at a rapid rate.

Yes, I think this is a great discovery I've made just recently. My other browser doesn't have one. The only thing is, sometimes my 'old' browser still works properly, and I forget to switch to Firefox, hence no spell check. So you like to stay up into the wee hours, to myLot too? I do this far too often, as it's after 4:00 a.m. here as well, and I should be getting some sleep. Thanks for sharing.

Hi there! I agree with you. Mylot should implement something like that because it would really be a big help to all mylotters out there. I guess I am still fortunate enough to have good spelling and grammar skills even if I don't have a spellchecker but still it would really help if Mylot had one.

I can't agree with you more.Sometimes I can pronounce a word or phrase correctly, but can't spell it right. So,maybe there're many spelling errors in my writtings and I just don't realize it!A automatic spelling error detector and crector would be very usefull.

All this time I thought the spelling and word checker are incorporated in mylot (the red underline indicators). I'm even surprised when I read your first sentences about the spelling checker but fully understand it as I read along your discussion. I'm using also Firefox as my browser, including Thunderbird to manage my e-mail account. It definitely help me in my responses because it highlights the words that are wrongly type, even have a suggested correct words. In my company where I usually do my internet (particularly mylot), having this word and spelling checker is a big benefit because I type words as fast as I can be to responds to my friends discussion due to the limited time and access I have in the office (during break time and after work).

I am so glad that you like the browser honey - I have used Mozilla Firefox for quite a while now and I really do love it! Even with the spell checker I am forever making typos and spelling mistakes as I am too lazy to add the words it does not recognise to the dictionary and when I see the red line I assume it is just something it doesn't recognise! I really have to start adding those words as it is so easy to do! lol xxx

Hello someonesmom, I am using Fire Fox now for some time. One great thing it has done in this regard, for me, is that it has saved a lot of my editing time by directly showing my spelling mistakes. Earlier, I used to edit it manually either in writing window here or I would paste it in word to see if there are any spelling mistakes and then re-paste it here or I would directly type in word and would paste here after I am finished. So, my main achievement with Firefox is saving on time. Still, there are many errors which are left unnoticed by Firefox because it doesn't recognize those errors as such. For example, leaving whole words out, such that the whole context or perspective changes like forgetting 'not' when one is actually trying to negate, like in, "I do like killing of innocents" how leaving just one word changes the whole scenario. Similarly, leaving or adding a letter such that the leftover is still either a proper word or letter like leaving 't' from 'the', or 'k' from 'think', or 'i' or 't' from 'it'. It is hard to monitor all these errors now that I am used to automatic error recognition by Firefox and unless I do it manually, I do make these mistakes. Sometimes I notice and other times I can't, before posting my response/comment. Overall, it's still a very good feature in Firefox. And, if I take a look manually too at my post, I do just fine and in less amount of time. Thank you for bringing it up for benefit of those who may not know this!

A spell check would really be helpful since there are some spelling mistakes that we commit and don't recognise .a spell check might help.also you dont expect people to comment about your spelling errors do you?

I think mylot has spell check feature. The text that you type has a red underline if it doesn't have a match in its dictionary.
