I hate black flies!!! The evil little things infest our property for about a month or so each year and I can't even go outside without wearing a head net. I am allergic to the bite of black flies and I swell up like I've been hit with a hammer anywhere I get bit by them. I am going to buy the regular DEET bu spray but I also want ot take extra steps to keep the nasty biting flies away from me. I am looking for any type of plant that I could plant in my yard to repel the black flies as well as mosquitos and deer flies (we have seasons of different bugs here, it sucks). Also any type of food that I could eat or supplement that i could take to make me less appealing to them would be good. I have heard that garlic is supposed to help with fleas if you animals have fleas and they are biting you, but I don't know if that works for other bugs or not. Please someone help me, give me some advice, don't let the bugs eat me alive!

oh i dunno of any fly repellant, but in our home, we use those fly catchers, the same sticky thing used to catch mice. they work pretty well. but indoors, the best thing really is to screen your doors and windows. so at least, when they get inside the house, it is just one of two of them and then you can already kill them with a fly swat. hope that helps! :-) good day! ps. keep your food covered.

I already have screen in all the windows and we plant to sceen in our deck when we can afford it. We don't have a problem with flies in the house but outside there is prbably about 3 billion of them. I don't think that food attracts them, these are flies that bite people.

Now that i think of it, we have some of those stick things to hang from the cieiling or whatever, I iwll have try try those outside and see if they help at all.
