Do You Still Sew?

I was taught by one of my grandmothers. And was given by her a singer featherwieght in mint condition but for me it has more sentimental values, by remembering all the things she was able to sew with such a simple machine compared to what we have now to sew with. So, does anymore have trouble with some kind of pain hindering them from doing more of thier favorite passtime? And what do you do to help with that pain to get through it? I myself, have arthritis, fibromyalgia, back problems to name a few. I try to remember to get up and take even short walks around the apt. now and then, but when you are totally engrossed in a project it's hard to stop, lol. What are your goals or dreams with your sewing, how far do you want to go? Myself, i want a small business at home. My finacee is disabled due to uncontrolled seizures I need to be here, plus i can't find a sit down job in my town.

I don't sew much at all anymore. I have been thinking about starting again, but I never seem to get around to it. I do have a sewing machine and lots of fabric laying around. I learned when I was in high school. I made quite a bit of stuff back then.

It's hard sometimes starting again after awhile. Maybe you are feeling a bit overwhelmed. Could you start with maybe a small project to just get started? Make something for a pet or child? There is also in most towns a Co-op Extension Office that has many people there who sew at all levels, when I had more of a time for getting a car I would go every Thursday here and from 8am-4pm we could sew or do other crafts. The women who sew are from all ages and most friendly in helping anyone. These places have tons of sewing machines or sergers so you can leave yours at home if you wish or if yours is too heavy. I had many offer to help get me set up since for me til a few weeks ago I too had not sewn in a while. Lish

I find that I only sew when it is required of me. I don't have a sewing machine, so I do it all by hand. The biggest task I have had to take on lately was the seam on a cushion of my couch ripped out, so I had to sew that. Other than that, just a button now and then.
