God Or Science? Which Do You Believe?

I personally believe in God, simply because he/she answered prayers that had to do with things I was thinking about. God has helped heal, with prayer. Some wonder how can God be so real if so much damage happens in the world. Just remember this, the best gift God gave us was free will, unfortunatly it was also a gift which God knew would be both good and evil. God will not come down and say stop, because, we have free will. With that said, science is just theories. That's all. But I know God is real, I used to wonder, but I experienced something that proves God exists. So what do you believe? Be honest.

Why does it have to be one or the other? I am not sure they are both saying the same thing differently. It is possible to reconcile the two.

Interesting question. I personally believe in God, but God put science here as well. The bible says that God created everything in 6 days and rested on the 7th. So from there he/she (which ever you prefer) could have very well put the science in place to keep it going. Look at procreation. Life continues because God made it so, but he doesn't keep re-creating life. It's already here. He made it self sustaining through science. This is just my belief.

Are you open to re-read gen :1, in a different way, with more inphasis on the hebrew words writen there and what it actualy says? It does go along with science and gives God the glory.

I do not believe in God. How could you attribute experiences in your life to god? What solid proof is there of his existence aside from faith? You said science is just theories. At least scientific theories have gone through rigorous tests, and substantial data has been presented. But god?! This concept of god even false pathetically short of being a theory. God is nothing but a fidget of man's imagination. A concept created by man that serves as a scapegoat for laziness to try to understand nature.

I'd rather believe is something that has some physical basis rather than a concept that is merely a fidget of man's imagination. Besides, different religions have different concepts of "god", while science is understood and agreed upon or disagreed upon collectively. How many religions are there as compared to, let's say, scientific theories on the formation of the universe? I rest my case.

we don't need to contrast god with science. both are real. god is working using every "tool", include science. everything originates from god. if we get sick, and we pray, we say "god cures me". in the other time we get sick (say headache), than we take an aspirin. in the next minutes we get cured. in that case we should also say "god cures me".

Science, as I don't believe in God. I don't exactly "believe" in Science as I know that things they say now, maybe proved to be untrue later on, as it has happened before in the past.

I too believe in god. Its not that i had any experience with him but whenever i feel in trouble i ask for the help of god and i really do receive help from any source. Its not that i only believe him for the help i get from him but because god is just a fact of mental satisfaction and i feel that there still something good in this world due to god.

Hello rockvixen!
I believe in God because He is the source of everything.
I believe in science because the intelligence is God's grace given to man in order for man to understand the creation of God, appreciate it and manage it properly.
But because man is greedy in many aspects, he did many opposites.
Can this greediness be rooted out when Adam ate the apple given to him by Eve as seduced by the big snake that if they eat that fruit their eyes will be opened to reality and can be intelligent just like God?

Like most people who have responded here I don't believe that we have to choose one or the other. I believe they complement one another. Basically I see the bible telling us the 'why' of existence and science telling us the 'how' of existence.
For example, science tells us that the universe was created by a huge explosion (the big bang) and that prior to the big bang nothing existed. What is the difference between that and what the bible says? Nothing, except the bible states that there was an intelligence behind it that caused it to occur.
The theories of scientists change as new research is done and new knowledge is unearthed. Sometimes I believe scientists make mistakes... often in fact.
But yeah, I don't think it's necessary to choose between them.

Unlike most people I believe in God and Science. God created this universe and Science is us humans way of trying to give a rational expainitions of how this universe works.
