I enjoy reading book series. I like following the adventures of a character, learn more about previous characters in the other books and watch them grow, and there is that familiarity with an author's style. From the famous Harry Potter series to my favorite paranormal romance series, I like reading them. I wonder if anybody like them to and if you have any recommendations of good ones. Please share.

I like to read book series. Like you said it's fun to follow their adventures. There are times when I read a book and then I wish that the author would write more so that I could find out what happenes to the character but unfortunately not all authors like to write series. I like the Harry Potter series and those are like one of my favorites. I also like the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich which are just so funny and wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone and I would read it if I were you. You'll have a good laugh from those books. Apart from that there are other series that I like to like Gossip Girl, A-List, and some other teenage books. I'm 19 and I'm going on twenty but you can still find me reading books for tweens and teens and I'm not ashamed to say it. But I would really read the Stephanie Plum books they are really good.

I like reading young adult fiction too despite the fact that i'm in the late thirties myself. I love the Harry Potter series, the Artemis Fowl series, the Cirque du Freak series, etc. I've heard of the Stephanie Plum series and I will check it out. Thanks for sharing.

My little brother is reading the Cirque Du Freak series and I am going to check them out when I finish a few books that I have here that I need to read. I want to read the Artemis series too. I hope that you have as much fun as I do with the Stephanie Plum series there are a lot of books to keep you laughing.

If you like paranormal romance novels, another series I highly recommend is JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. Try it! I'm sure you will not regret it.

I do like reading series; however, like to read them in order. There is a mystery series that I'm getting ready to start, but am missing some of the books. I'm hoping it won't make a difference.

I know how you feel. I can be so anal about that, not wanting to go forward unless I'm reading them in order. Thanks for sharing!

I have sort of mixed feelings in regards to series and stand alone books. I have this thing where when I book or series I love ends, I get really sad because I want to read more. When I'm reading a series, I get to find out more things that happen along the way, but when the ending hits, I get sad. A prime example was with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, that I'm totally hooked to. I thought book three was the end of it, but now there's a fourth book coming out in August.

In a way, I do understand what you mean. I guess in the end, if its a good story, I will read it. The only good thing about a series, is that it lasts longer, and you have something to look forward to. Thanks for sharing!

I prefere stand alone novels. I do enjoy reading crimestories though about the same investigator or hero. Still I like it when one can read them as stand alone novels as well. I do not like series about families or love stories that just go on and on and on for 46 books.

I do see your point. Most of the stories that I read, even though they are part of a series, usually is a novel by itself. I hate cliffhangers that leave me hanging until the next time I read about it, so I understand what you were saying. Thanks for sharing.

Whilst I do enjoy reading series, I hate having to wait for the next one to come out. I'm currently waiting for the last instalment of the Wheel of Time, then I'm going to read them all at once.

I know how painful it is to wait for the next installment of a beloved series, since most writers publish their books like at minimum six months apart or more. Thanks for sharing!

I prefer a stand alone novel because if I finished reading a book, I want the feeling of contentment.
