will you still go to garage sales even with the price of gas the way it is? the fun of going from garage sale to garage sale is getting more expensive these days. are the bargains worth it any more?

I only stop at garage sales when I see things I know I need form the street. That way I am already there so I am not really wasting gas to get there. I have enough clutter in my home to last a while so I dont need to add to it. I try to keep the shopping trips to a minimum.

I think a lot of people will go to "block sales" and larger organized garage sales with many families involved. That way you can park, walk and buy!

I live in a small town so the gas is not a problem for us when going to yard sales. We have a big Flea Market about 6 miles from town and there are always lots of people that go and set up there. I usually just stop at ones I pass as I am going on other trips. Like today, as I was returning from dropping off a girl scout after an event, I stopped at the local church rummage sale. I also passed about 4 more I could have hit if I had wanted to.

I tell you, I was a Huge Thrift shopper...a shop-oholic Is the term.... lol... I couldn't pass a thrift store, garage sale, without taking "a peak" at what treasure I might find. I love thing's that are made Before the time of Television, when life was simple and art had time to ponder. I love Jewelry and clothes and art and furniture, and lamps and anything shiny and Deco. It's probably the Hippie in me. and I admit I am really good at getting the bargain. I have found diamonds for 6 dollars. people give away the things that they are DONE WITH... but I can make that work! I wasn't a Hoarder either. I always brought back a bag or two whenever i went. Now with the prices so High,The world and the wars and the hunger, it seems ridiculous to even want to spend your Money on all the stupid things we supposedly need. We need nothing , but our family's and your creativity.whatever that may be... and LOVE! the rest is just day to day struggle to over come. You are not alone...Purge your need of other people's items found at these garage sales.

I still go to yard sales, yes. I love yard sales, and I always am finding awesome deals there than any where else. I go to yard sales when I at least have money though. I enjoy them a lot. LOL thanks for asking.

I love garage sales! It is so worth it to get those bargins! I hear you about the fuel prices thouhg! I would certainly plan my route more carefully than I would normally. Try to go out with a duel purpose: running errands and hitting them along the way, getting items and selling them on eBay, or event thinking about the fact that you may find something nice that you can give to someone on their birthday/Christmas! Imagine that! Something like that would actually save us a trip to the mall months later! :-)
