So how wide is your TV screen. My neighbour struggled into his house yesterday with their new television. A brute of a flat panel37 inch HD Ready, makes the tea and will fill his lounge wall. He has got it in preparation for Wimbledon he said. If it was down to me we probably would not have a TV at all. Ours is only about five years old, and 24 inches seems plenty, but compared to modern day TVs look positively steam driven. Is TV a priority in your life; and go on, tell us how big yours is.

Hi p1kef1sh, to me tv is very important. That's why I smuggled the tv in my room when I was in campus. LOL. For now on, I just have the 32 inch Sony tv, but I plan to have the projector tv soon because I could have the bigger view!

We used to own a bunch of tv's pre-Katrina. I don't miss them. We didn't replace all of them. My husband decided to buy a projector instead of replacing all the smaller tvs. I think he has it set at 108 inches. I may be off my an inch or two. I think our "small" tv that we keep in our bedroom is 53" or something like that. He has had that one since before we were married. He loves movies and collects dvds. He can't wait to get his grubby hands on a Blu-Ray player. We don't watch tv aside from dvds and HD-dvds. We don't even have cable.

Yeah, the problem is...he loves to watch movies but I get bored and restless after about 20 minutes.

These TVs get bigger and bigger. If your hobby is collecting movies etc then I can see the sense in having something decent to watch them on.

wow, they are so lucky. I just have a 25 inch flat TV, but no HD :(. Although that is a big TV, why is it such a big deal that it has to be so huge? I'm perfectly satisfied with mine.

Since growing up with only one tv in our home, and only getting 2 channels for most of my life. I have 6 tvs now, 2 are currently not being used. There's a 42 inch flat screen in the living room, which honestly I don't watch a lot because I'm in my bedroom with my laptop. In my bedroom, we have a 32 inch that we used in the living room, before the 42 inch. My oldest got the 19 inch that was in my bedroom, and my youngest got her sister's 13 inch. One of the tvs that's not being used is a 27 inch, and it's broken because a switch got messed up from windex dripping down into the panel. When cleaning a tv, use the right cloths, we learned the hard way.

You have a fair few TVs now then. LOL. Thank you for the cleaning advice. I always smear our screen, but you never notice until I'm sitting in front of it.

I find a lot of tiny hand prints on mine from our kids. So after the 27 inch, I learned to use the screen wipes or spray on a paper towel then wipe, depends on the tv. With dusting, I just use a old sock, works just as good.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
15 May 08
That's a great idea about the sock. The washing machine if forever losing one and leaving the other! I can use the remaining one on the TV.

My Brother just bought a flat screen plasma...I forget how big but it's huge. I don't know why he'd even want anything like that. Seems like a waste of money to me. To each his own. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

My ex b/f insisted on getting a big screen tv and we had a small living room. I had constant headaches from the size of the screen. It was just too overpowering. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

As you say Twoey - to each his own. Our lounge isn't big enough for a really big TV. Anyway, I don't like the box to dominate the room.

We have a 32 inch one sweets and even then the other half is obsessing about a 42 inch wall mounted tv - he can keep fantasising! lol I have to admit I do like tv especially when I have the 'down' time and don't even have the energy to go online! It is great for the kids too and all of us when they want to play the Wii! xxx
@mummymo (23706)
11 May 08
The wii is a games console sweety - but it is different to most of the others as the controllers are wireless and most of the games need you to move about so they get a bit of exercise as they play - what a wonderful idea huh? they also do the brain training games on it which is fantastic - i can't play the other games and the kids have banned me from the brain training ones as they hate getting beaten! lol I am very proud sweety - thank you! xxx
@p1kef1sh (45681)

If you enjoy it then why not Mummymo. I don't really know what Wii is - a computer game isn't it? Something to do with keep fit according to my paper. Do they do physical jerks in front of the telly when it's raining and they can't get outside? I am thick I know. I want to get off and answer your post about Niamh's art. You must be so proud.

hi... here in our house, every room has a tv. just imagine, how noisy it is at times....hahaha... the biggest that we have is in our living room, it's a flat screen tv of 29 inches. the rest are either 21 or 24 inches tv except for the one in my room, which is the oldest, is only 14 inches. LOL... however, it's ok with me since i am mostly using my laptop to watch videos. and i spent alot of time surfing the net or doing things with my laptop more than watching tv nowadays. when i was younger up to 2005, i spent so much time watching cable tv that i didnt have much sense of accomplishment. so i decided beginning 2005 to curtail my tv watching and do something useful instead... happy mylotting...

I think it's 37 inches, but it's old. Heavy and bulky. I would love to have a new beautiful TV but they are just too expensive for me right now. The old one I have works just fine though it isn't a flat screen and it doesn't do cartwheels.

I hope Chicago is on your list of places to see and people to visit!!! :) I have the same thing with my computer. I hardly watch TV myself. I read and write mostly. I would have to agree it would be a waste of money for me as well. But the new TV's are pretty.

Sounds a perfect TV to me Skinny. I go to the stores and look at these gleaming TVs and wonder where on earth I would put one. I se the decluttering advantage of a flat screen - thats why I have a flat screen computer (no tower just a screen, wireless keyboard and a mouse), but I hardly watch the thing so it would be a waste of money for me. I'm saving it all for my marathon visit to North America. LOL.

Let's see, the one in the living room is 27" I think, and the one in my dressing room is only 12", but quite sufficient for me. If I didn't have my tv, I wouldn't have my movies and I can't live without my movies, as you know, p1ke, so I'm keeping my tv. Plus, I just love my Boston Legal so much - I'd hate to miss it. And honestly, there are other programs that I very much enjoy and would miss if I couldn't watch them. I can't say that tv is a big priority in my life - since I discovered Mylot, I've watched infinitely less than I did before, it's truly amazing how much I've given up, just to be typing to the likes of you, p1ke! But, hey, you're worth it, baby!! But I've gotta say, if it were between you and Boston Legal, I daresay I'd have a very hard choice on my hands and I don't really know who'd win. James Spader is one hot babe. And there's Shatner on it too - how could I give him up!? I'm just grateful that it comes on here when you're sleeping there. What a dilemma it would be if I had to make that choice. Whew, saved by the time difference! Usually, I hate the time difference, but not in this case! XXX

Yes, I do mean Captain Kirk. But he's much older in Boston Legal - it's current, actually, so he's probably somewhere around as old as god or moses or maybe methuselah. But he's so cool as the character of Denny Crane, a legend in his own bedroom, irrepressible, incorrigible, a complete nut, a man after my own heart. But enough about him. I understand you like to watch afternoon webcam. I've been interested in that same thing myself, p1ke - I was wondering if you might give me some tips as to where I might find some sites of interest - you and I have similar tastes - I trust you to recommend someting for me. I'll look so forward to your reply. (why isn't there an emoticon for tongue-in-cheek?)Maybe this one -

I love that in you P1ke a guy who openly will admit to his being smaller than his neighbours! Mine is 26" and fairly new but up until then I used my daughters portable in the lounge as mine had broken during the house move two years ago. I myself don't watch too much TV so it was bought really as it had inbuilt freeview for the kids to watch their various programmes. The only time I insist on it for me is if the racing is on and then its MINE. Ellie :D

Did you watch the Grand Prix Ellie? Not too exciting although I did think that Lewis had a chance - but it was not to be. Still, I quite like Massa and if it helps secure him his seat at Ferrari next season then it's all to the good. We have Sky but we downsized from the full package to just the basic - we don't miss anything so we had wasted money for years.

Yes I did, in fact you posted this discussion literally just before the start. Massa is good at Istanbul and as he predicted won. Hamilton done well but yes a pretty uneventful race, was flitting back here during the adverts. LOL. I only have freeview as it is free I don't see the point really in paying for something that will not be used that much. Ellie :D

Good morning Piky my duck,my television...well theres not a lot to say about it really..suffice to say that yes I would miss it if it were not there!..Hands up,honestly ..I do enjoy quite a few programmes and as for Mr Ruby ..oh lordy well he would be in pieces without his beloved television..But my tv is by no means a posh affair,without getting the tape measure..well im looking at it now trying to judge how big the screen is ..I would say...22 inches or close to that...I know what you mean about the gigantic screens,my daughter has this cinema screen in her front room!!..all that is missing is the usherette!!remember them???lolol..ice cream and pop corn in the interval..ohhhhh
@p1kef1sh (45681)
14 May 08
Oh yes I remember the usherettes. Where I lived they were all my friends grannies. LOL. You'd go to the saturday matinee and one foot out of line and it was "P1kef1sh. If you don 't stop that right now your mother will be told". We'd queue for what seemed hours for an overpriced ice cream tub terrified the whole time that she'd run out or the film would start again. I'm off to Hatfield today (where hurricanes hardly happen) to pick up the educated child. The TV is going to get a bashing over the next few months as she catches up on all those programmes that she doesn't watch during term time (hasn't got a TV).

I guess size really does matter, after all, hmmm? I can live without tv and would gladly do so but living in a houseful of omen makes it compulsory to be able to tune into two-three hours of soaps per day. Our current HD widescreen tv is about 32" i believe but I personally couldn't care less.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
3 Jun 08
I feel exactly the same way. There is the odd programme that I like to watch, but it is not an essential in my life at all. However, when I suggest we get rig, you can probably hear the howls of protest where you are. LOL.
