Has anyone recently had or know someone who's had Lasik eye surgery?

I will have a consultation later this month so not exactly sure how or what they'll do.The price could be anywhere from 900. to 2000. for each eye. Have you been told does this lasting effect vary on people or is it expected to last years. Can you see well right away and is it worth the price? I have no vision insurance so this would be a payment plan thing. I'm just afraid they can damage your eye. Any information would be helpful.

My mother had this done quite a few years ago. I am not trying to scare you, as I'm sure the procedure has gotten better over the years, but her eyes were messed up from it. She could not see at all at night and she would get strange shapes and lights randomly in her eyes. I don't know what happened.. I think it might have had something to do with her having cut her eye a long time ago and it interfering with the surgery. The affects have worn off now and she cannot see worth a darn. She has to get it redone.
