Okay let me try this once again. I started this discussion a little while ago but for zsome reason it came up under my daughters name. So here it is under my account I hope.
I am at my daughters using her puter for some myLotting. But let me say that this really sucks too. I am a hunt and peck typist meaning I use a dew fingers and I stare at the keyboard as I type. Now her keyboard is old and half the letters are worn out that I get lost trying to type. Some day I'll be able to type better. I want her to get a new keyboard. Is your keyboard so old that the letters and symbols are worn off to where you can't see them?

My keyboard is about 2 years old. Some of the letters are worn. The enter key is really worn. The O sticks. I would love to have a new keyboard. I really like this one though. It is comfortable.

My keyboard is old, but I am a typist I don;t have to look at the keys, I learned the old fashioned way in school with the letters taped on a typewriter so that nobody could look at the letters. It is the only way to learn properly, as long as you type looking at the letters you are slower and run into the problems you are facing now.

I have to look at the keys and I think I always will. I actually don't do too bad most times. But there are days where I am super slow though.

the "a" and "s" are mostly missing and the "d" is partially missing, but on my keyboard when I used to work, I had worn almost all the letters and numbers away. One of the first to go was the "x" because I had to use that to type "TX" as that's the state where most of our people live, for some strange reason....

LOL I have had a couple of keyboards wear out on me AGB - it only happens to special people like your daughter and I! lol Some people do write the letters back on the keys and seal with clear nail varnish but I think new ones can be very cheap and are a much better idea! Hugs xxx

Both my fiance and My laptop is only a few years old, and the keys are still very visible with no worn areas. The computer that we use but is his parents also has a fairly new keyboard. I am great typist, though, so would have no need to look at the keys unless the layout of the keyboard is a little different (as in proportion wise) or the keyboard is not set up as high or low as I am used to. Some people have a keyboard tray computer desk and some people do not... My fiance's parents do, but for our laptop I usually just lay it in my lap or on the ottoman while typing.

Well, your daughters keyboard sounds like my last keyboard I had for my Computer. It worked fine for me, but I decided I needed a New keyboard incase my husband ever needed to look something up online, so I asked for a New keyboard and mouse for Christmas a yr. and a half ago. I now have a cordless keyboard and mouse, and really Love these. All I have to worry about is Batteries once in a while, and go from there. Since I have the letters memorized, I do not look at the keys while typing so even when I had no letters there, it did not matter for me.

Well, its not that old that the keys are fading. But our keyboard has a lot of dirty stuff on it. Food stains & coffee stains. It's my fault. Dave & Bianca get really annoyed at me. Every now & then I clean it. It is cheap to buy anew keyboard here, if you look out for the specials.

my computer is old but the keyboard is still intact. i don't think it needs replacing but then, i dont need to look at the keyboard while typing. i work as a transcriptionist and typing is one of the requirements (it took me a lot of practice). now, i can type even with the lights off. i just look at the monitor. Happy Mylotting!

Our computer's old but the letters are still intact so i don't need a new keyboard. even then, i dont look at the keyboards while typing. i work as a transcriptionist and typing really fast is one of the requirements (it took me hours of practice). anyway, it has its advantage because even if the lights are close, i can still type. i only look at the monitor. Happy posting too!

No, what you need is some little ones around to spill something on your keyboard, making you replace it before the letters wear off...
This is my third keyboard in as many years..My son is not allowed to have drinks around the keyboard and I have a table behind the computer chair for drinks, but at 6, he is still forgetful and just today I had to remind him to remove his water..

hi Grandpa Bob I learned to type in high school
manymany moons ago ,and am pretty good except for
some typos here and there. My keyboard is once again
the one with readable keys but a space bar that
sticks so mywordsruntogether like that and I have to
go back and space every little while grrrrrrrrr. makes
typing a real different sort of game grrrr.

Oh no, poor Grandpa Bob!
I don't get lost (unless I have my fingers on the wrong keys to start with!) because I learned to type the old fashioned way in high school on a manual typewriter - does that give you any idea of how many moons ago THAT was? LOL ...
My keyboard is fairly new so I don't have issues with he letters not being identifiable, even if I did need to see them. It sure does need a cleaning, though, so maybe I'll pop these puppies off and give it a good brushing.

No, mine is a fairly new keyboard and it has all of the letters intact.. However, I have a very bad habit of eating at the computer and I am sure there are enough crumbs under the keys to make an 8 course meal.. I purchased it new, but didn't give full price for it.. I found it at a yard sale for 2 dollars, it was new and still in the box covered in plastic.. I do love my yard sales.. It is a Labtec and a very modern looking black and silver, with crumbs underneath.. Gotta go looking for a new one at a yard sale, it is so much fun and then you can pat your self on the back for finding a great deal.. Good luck on finding a new one..

Luckily, my computer is still fairly new, so my keyboard is too. I have taught myself how to type, although I am not the best in the world. The more I type the better I get. I make myself type without looking at the keyboard. At first, it was hard to do, but now it's like second nature.

Lol I see that is what happened back there lololol
How did you manage that
Well I gave my reply on the Minnie Discussion lol
I get a new Keyboard every 4 Months but I have been able to extend that now as I put clear Nail Vanish on the Keys which protects the letters from fading

Nope- my keyboard at work in new and in great shape-- and my keyboard at home is new also- I had to replace both keyboards- I must be hard on them-- it's ok though- I don't look down when I type- I just know where the keys are. I can imagine if I was a hunt and peck typer- having the letters missing would irritate the crap out of me! Sounds like you need a new keyboard!

I would find that annoying too. Our laptop if fairly new so at the moment our keyboard is fine.

I don't look at my keyboard when I am typing so it wouldn't matter to me if the letters were worn off. I watch my screen while I am typing and that way if I make an error I see it right away and can correct it. But then I have been typing for the last 30 years so I had better know where all the keys are and I shouldn't have to look at the keys. I also used to work in an office and I did a lot of typing there too, first on the typewriter and then the computer. So I do have lots of practice when it comes to typing.

Both my husband and I recently got new keyboards. We got them about a month and a half ago. Before that though the keyboards we had were really old. One of them was just pitiful, but we couldn't afford to worry about it. I love the new keyboards we got though. They are much more comfortable to type on and a whole lot easier to read.
