Wii-hot or not?

What do you think of Nintendo Wii? I think it's pretty cool cause it looks different and the entire concept of playing is different, too. What throws me off, though,is that you have to buy all kinds of accessories for different games and they come out expensive. For example,I'd like to try a boxing game but then I need to buy not just a nunchuck but also boxing gloves... I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan and somebody suggested I try MK for Wii but I simply don't have the courage. I get really frustrated when I lose in that game and Wii session could be utterly destructive both for me and the surroundings lol Would probably chuck the controller into the LCD lol And imagine trying to perform a complex combo with all these moves... Could easily break a hand lmao

We love our Wii. I even got my parents totally hooked on it, they bought one. And you don't need to get all the extra accessories. You can play just about any of the games with just the wand controller. You get both a wand and a nunchuck with the system though so you should be able to box as well just not box another person. check on ebay for used accessories!

Thanks, just got an extra nunchuck today:) Some games can be pretty tricky, though. Takes some times to forget the regular PS2 configuration...

What adds to it is that it looks so modern and different! I hate PS3s,they might be very functional but they are huge and make a lot of noise. My slim PS2 is way more dear to me lol

It's very hot actually... I see alot more adults looking at this system than really kids... Reason being is that they can actually play these games and move and know what they are doing.. These games are very active.. I have this system and bowl ha ha... I don't care what my score is cause it's only for fun... But I am moving alot and getting exercise and really don't even think about it.. It's like alot of people and that's why they choose this over other systems, it's better to get up and move than to sit and watch.. It maybe a bit more expensive but yet worth getting them...

I know what you mean about moving... Just got it 2 days ago and already realized the difference. No more sitting in front of TV for hours lol Bowling is pretty fun but you should see me play tennis on it,that's an ultimate Smash Them All competition:))))

My son plays the tennis on it and he's jumping around like you wouldn't believe.. I have never tried that one yet but plan to do so.. But afraid I won't be able to move the next day after doing so.. ha ha... I just have to be sure though when playing I don't go over board on playing so that way I won't get sore afterwards... lol

Told ya lol Wii requires a lot of movement, that's why there's always a warning on the screen to tie that controller to your wrist:))))))

I own a Wii and I think it's great! I've read mixed reviews on Mortal Kombat Armageddon on gamefaqs.com. (Was thinking about getting that myself.) I guess Guilty Gear: Accent Core is supposed to be a pretty good fighting game. I believe you have to have the classic controller for it, though. Anyway, check out that website I listed if you'd like more information. Also, if you need another Wii-mote, just get Wii Play, since it comes with it.

I guess Wii Play may offer limited appeal. If you like trying to earn medals and beat your best scores, it's worth a shot. You might as well get the one with Wii Play, if you're planning on getting another Wii mote is my advice.

I know about Gamefaqs,it's a pretty good website. Thanks for the advice,I didn't know Wii Play included Wiimote. The pack doesn't seem very exciting,though-just basic arcade/board games...

Me and my boyfriend just got a Wii. We haven't really played many games on it. We've tried the little Sports Demo game that came with it and Super Smash Brothers. We had to get a classic controller which was $20, another regular Wii controller $40, and a nunchuck $20. As far as the boxing gloves goes, I don't think you actually need them unless you want to enhance the game play by making it seem fairly real. You can play with the nunchuck on boxing games. I'm not sure about Mortal Kombat. I'll have to try it and tell you what I think. I also get frustrated when I lose in MK. But I know to not throw the controller into the TV. I'd be shot.. lol

You don't have to smash the TV on purpose,it just happens lol Let me know how MK works when you try it! It is cheaper to buy the accessories at Gamestop and places like that,I paid $15 for the controller

I think the Nintendo Wii does look preatty cool and it cool that you can get more active when you play it,but it does suck that some of the accesories are more expensive, yeah I have heard about the Mortal Kombat game for the Wii and yeah I understand getting frustrated and I agree it could be very destructive because even playing my X-box there are times I want to throw my controller at the television when I am losing on the game I am playing.

I've never personally played the Wii but i've watched many others do it. I think it's definitely something that I could get into and enjoy because i'm one who would sit around and jump with the controller and tilt it and things when i was playing any other console game. It has a lot of the games that i like because i enjoy simulators like the sims and stuff. They actually had to recall the first generation controllers because the wrist strap was snapping and you can find many images of where people have accidently thrown them and they got stuck out of their TVs. Yes, it is expensive because it seems that every game is now developing some type of thing you have to dock your Wii mote in, but that's what happens in this day and age. They want to squeeze every penny out of you that they can.

I didn't understand the purpose of the strap until I played a game that I really got into lol Hopefully, the price of it will go down soon

I love the Wii system! It's pretty kewl to get up off that couch and actually move around. I think it's what our kids have needed for a long time!

The wii is rad! I love it. I don't usually like playing video games except for old ones like Sega Master System and Atari but I've been playing the wii ever since it was launched and i'm still not sick of it. I love how it can be physical and it's just revolutionary. I really want to get WiiFit and Mario Kart. My friend told me that I should get the wii connected to the internet and play Mario Kart so I'll probably do that soon!

We had a Nintendo Wii for a few months, but my boyfriend had to sell it because he needed the money. Honestly, at the time there weren't many games for it and I didn't think it was that fun. I liked the Wario game, that was about it. It lost it's novelty fast. I think now with all the games I wouldn't mind playing it again, but I would never buy one. They are way too expensive, and like you said, you have to buy all the accessories and games. Maybe in 10 years when it is not popular anymore I'll find one at a second-hand store or something

We got a really good deal, bought it from a person but I'd double think buying it brand new at the store... The games are expensive and what actually annoys me is when you trade in a game they give you 5 bucks or less and alter on sell it for 15 lol

I want a Wii so badly it hurts. I stuck playing my boring outdated PS2. I am glad that I have my Playstation 2, but I want something new. Wii is like my perfect game console. I see they have a Mario racing game out now. I am addicted to racing games I think I would do well. It sucks that you have to buy so many accessories and stuff. I guess that's the only downside to the system.

Yeah, fighting games are my thing:))) The only problem is that,as I said,it's easy to get an injury with Wii being so interactive. Too bad there are not so many hot new games for Wii yet...

xbox 360 is better. better graphics, better processor, better games, all around the best gaming console the world has ever seen. The Wii on the other hand lags up just trying to play tennis

nintendo wii is a good gaming console if you want fun. in terms of graphics or game pplays, find another gaming console instead. wii is designed to create a different meaning to the word gaming. it is designed for group activities. you can play solo if you want but will it be more fun if you & your friend is playing boxing together? regarding the accessories, you can just stay with the original controller if you don't want to spend. that's why they are called accessories. you can still use wii without them.
