It is always very good to be able to speak a foreign language especially if one has to be travelling to or living in that country. I have been picking up a few words in Thai and Chinese. Not too bad ! But, one language I find so difficult to speak is Vietnamese because of many tonal sounds. So far no success ! Do you speak some foreign languages ?

I don't think that. maybe you try to study and you have an enthusiasm. I think every language, if you want to learn, it's no difficult to study. At the first, I think Japanese is the most difficult. But now, I can write, speak, listen and read it very well. If you want, I can teach you Vietnamese because I'm a Vietnamese. I have studied a little of Laos.

Yes, I understand. There are some language programs where you can learn online. These are quite good , and you can learn as and when you have time. Best wishes to you.

I am very keen on traveling, finding out as well as visiting different countries and find learning a foreign language an enjoyable thing to do. My mother tongue is English and I learned French over five years when I was at secondary school. I think that French is a beautiful language and I really enjoy speaking it when I get the opportunity. My 13 year old son has now been learning French for two years and he is doing quite well with this. I loved going to Central America and have a desire to go to South America for a trip one day soon. Therefore I have an interest in learning Spanish and that would help in me countries like Peru, Chile and Argentina. I have some books and audio disks to help me. In September I hope to get more serious and go to a Spanish lesson one evening a week.

Hi Joyangz. Oh yes. Learning foreign languages is not easy at all. Grammer is difficult, and pronunciations are also in some cases so difficult. I speak a little bit of German too, nur ein bitshen ! I have not started on Dutch yet. I have no idea at all. You are doing better than me ! Best wishes to you !

Hi, Chinese is my mother tongue, if you're interested in it, I'm glad to help you. I learnt Japanese for 3 years, but I seldom practise it now. And I almost forget it.

hi greenline. with the world getting smaller and smaller and teh internet providing us ways to interact with people from around the globe, it is definitely a good idea to learn a foreign language. i've always wanted to learn spanish, french, german , and nihonggo (or niponngo). i choose these four because i think these are very beautiful languages and because someday i hope to be visiting spain, frnace, germany , and japan. i've already enrolled in spanish language classes and i've surfed the internet for modules that will teach me the other languages. for nihonggo, i've borrowed a book from my friend. her husband works in japan and has really a good grasp of nihonggo. i hope that some day i'll be fluent in these languages as well.

I enjoy learning French and Spanish. I went to Spain for 1month and took an adult foreigners school for like under $10 CDN and i learned alot. Just wish i could find someway to continue practising it. I get side tracked easily. ITs true the saying "Use it or Lose it!"

Yes, you are perfectly right. I learnt French some time ago. Took courses for about one year. The teacher was so excellent. Now it is all gone because I don't have the opportunity to use it. "Use it or Lose it" as you said !!!

Hi!!! Its really great to hear that you know a couple of foreign languages. To learn a language apart from the mother tongue is really cool! For a year I am learning German, and I find it a bit difficult, because of its grammar! It has so many rules and expressions.

I only learn Eglish, and it is a requirement for Chinese pupil now. The kids starts to learn English when he/she start to learn language. And also I once learn Japanese in my college, but not use it so much during my work, so I almost forgot it. So, I only want to learn English now. I want to improve my oral and listening. I do hope I can find some foreign friends here, and then I can learn English from him/her.
