While I was designing for an exhibition stall, I did not sleep for 36 hours (including day time from last slept time to next sleep time). Earlier exhibition schedules, I had not slept for more than 48 hours, but I used to take nap for 30 to 45 minutes inbetween.

Many years ago I did an experiment with myself to see how long I could go without sleep and what would happen -- I managed approx 180 hours -- it was definitely very interesting but not something I've ever wanted to repeat. It put me into Lalaland and it took a while to get back. Why did I do it? Curiosity. :)

Honestly, the longest I was ever up was for about a week, maybe a little more. Why? I was in the throws of a manic episode and I just couldn't stop "going". I didn't even "need" sleep at that time. But when it was over, I certainly crashed for a long time.
