I agree with wetting your hair first, but I rarely use shampoo. I was taught that shampoo is much too harsh on your hair -- no matter what the brand -- so it is better to use just your conditioner instead. I use a little shampoo just once every couple of months or so to remove any buildup. Otherwise I use conditioner to wash my hair and it works very well. I live in New Mexico where it is very dry -- if I used shampoo even weekly I would have no hair on my head at all. It would all turn to chaff and blow away!

conditioner is best rather than shampoo in your area but where the weather is not much dry you can use shampoo and conditioner both but conditioner is best that's right

Dilute it? Why on earth would you want to do that??
If your hair is already damp - as it should be - the shampoo will be sort of diluted anyway.
The one reason I can think of for diluting it would be because you want to save money...
Otherwise, unless you are using some special shampoo, I would think the concentration of the solution is already customized to suit the normal hair.

when i take a bath, i shampoo my hair up to two or three times if i still have time, but usually i shampoo it only once especially of i wake up late, and i need to hurry to go to the office.

i also dilute the shampoo first because if you apply shampoo directly to your hair, your scalp would get irritated and will have falling hairs due to it. it happened on one of my school mate when i was in high school

I take my shampoos and dilute them 10 parts water to one part shampoo. I read about doing this at a salon's hair care site once, and I must say, it makes the shampoo work better. It's easier to rinse out, and seems to do a far better job with my hair. Another thing it does is make the bottle of shampoo last longer. I dilute the conditioner too, otherwise it's very hard to rinse back out, and it just weighs down my baby fine hair. And you're absolutely right, it's much gentler to the scalp!

I don't dilute shampoo before I apply it to my hair. I haven't had any problems with it. My mother does dilute shampoo with water first and she's mentioned to do the same, but I never do it.

I have heard that it is better shampooing our hair just every other day. That is to let our hair use its own naturals oils - its very own conditioner. Some shampoo are hard for our hair and I agree that we should dilute it when.
It's good that you've you've felt your scalp's irritated. That's a good warning that shampoo can harm you if used in rich amount or for a long time. In my case, I use only a small amount each time I use my shampoo.
