Hello all. I recently joined myLot and I was wondering if people had any tips on how to effectively start discussions. I have tried to start a few, but they never really go anywhere. Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Phreakuency

I find that if a discussion has a catchy title and good quality content that generally helps. I like to take my topics from day to day happenings and by having friends on your list you should find yourself getting responses.

As the old saying goes I guess, quality over quantity huh? Thanks for the reply!

Use the search box to see if there are any other discussions on a topic, having something that is unique or original will get you more responses than something that asks what your favorite pizza topping or color is. It gets harder and harder to find great topics to reply to so if you come up with really interesting things to post, more people will reply and check your posts.

While I would suggest never think for a subject because most times it takes long and long to find a subject to start a discussion. Start the discussion with whatever things that cames into your life. Like the news in the newspaper, your hobbies, life style, relationships, etc. One of the way to start a discussion is going through the profile of different people and finding the way each of them has started discussions. This helps to start new discussions.

I find that having a lot of friends gets more responses. When I didn't have many friends I didn't get many. Now I get a lot. (duh..) Anyway, I looked at your discussions and I bet the reason a lot of people aren't responding is because they cannot easily relate. I also find that unfortunately some of the "shorter" discussions get more responses because they are easier to answer. I don't know, I think you just need to give it time and people will start responding more. I really have no good advice for you. Your discussions sound well thought out, so just keep trying, I guess...
