twisters & cyclones

G/Day to all you people who live in the USA whose homes are in the states that are hit by Twisters and Cyclones. I have lived in the north of Western Australia in a town called Port Hedland. There Cyclone season is from December to about April give or take a couple of weeks either side. Just recently on the news for the past few weeks there have been quite a number happening in those areas. The question I would like answered is why do they keep on building them with WOOD?. Don't they ever learn what happened to the 3 LITTLE PIGS in there house of straw & sticks. I lived in Port Hedland for 20 years and we have cyclones which have winds from 100 to 300 kilometers an hour, we don't have to much damage like you have over there. The reason I think is because all the structure is made out of STEEL and all that is bolted to more STEEL post that go into holes in the ground which are filled up with CONCRETE. The roof is also bolted to the steel structure. I also suggest a cellar be built as a precaution if necessary. I don't know if it is cost wise that is the problem but if it keeps happening every season wouldn't that cost more. I hope I receive a reply for this question as it has bugged me for a long time as I see the damage of wood of the houses that once stood majestic as ther home.
