When you take a look at the number of people who are applying for elementary school teaching jobs it is obvious that the pay is more than adequate. If they were underpaid there would be a mass exodus of teachers. Like most people who would like more pay, teachers probably add up the advantages and disadvantages of teaching and decide to stay. Many probably could not make more outside of teaching and if they left they would have the same pay, longer hours and only a 2 week paid vacation. That is why they stay.

I have to disagree with you sorry. I work with a school district and the teacher work after hours. They work longer hours than you think. The hour are not just when the kids are in the school. They are required to stay later. The bell rings for the students not the teachers!

In India, Teachers are not well paid, except in government schools where are facilities like leave, long travel concession, medical benefits, gratuity, medical, and pension schemes. Whereas in the private school, they do pay better but they are deprived of long term benefits. Most of the teachers in order to make up the income loss, take up private coaching after school hours and make money.

I agree with you. I do know that they take their work home with them!
