has anybody read the book life as we knew it? it's about how a meteor hit the moon off its orbit and all of a sudden it got really close to earth. because the moon' gravitational pull got stronger, the sea levels rose dramatically, and natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions and tsunamis killed billions of people across the world. humans would soon extinction because the volcanic ash produced by erupting volcanoes covered the atmosphere and sunlight couldn't reach the plants, so people ran out of food and other essential supplies. could this happen in real life? it would be so scary if it's possible...lol

I suppose in theory it could happen, if a large enough object traveling fast enough hit the Moon head on so that it slows it's orbit down. Sounds like an interesting book, what's the name of the author?
