Hi,
This is a club I belong to. It's called Viking Age Club & Society/ SONS of Norway. We are affliliated with the SONS of Norway group, Lodge 517 of Minneapolis as that is where we get out insurance to cover us at the Scandanavian events we participate in. I demonstrate card-weaving and the drop spindle at these events, while other members demonstrate chaing mail makilng, leather working, wood carving and jewelry making. In 2004 we introducded live steel combat. Talk about a draw! The guys did some training with a group called Skjaldborg out of Nebraska. Check out our website at www.vikingage.com. We have some cool movies there of the live steel combat.

Your website is very informative. I was born in Stavanger, but now live in the US(Virginia). I've marked your website as a favorite place so that I can find it as a reference again. Minnesota is entirely too cold for me for the majority of the year, but maybe at some point I can get up there to see the fighting in action.
Have any of you actually traced your lineage back to the Vikings or do you jsut enjoy it? I live about an hour away from a town called Norge. Obviously of scandinavian decent.
Off to watch the steel combat video again. That thing is cool!

My father-in-laws family came from Norway. Also, in tracing my ancestory, my people came from Normandy, France, which was a Viking settlement, so I tell everyone I'm a Norman Viking. I also have ancestory in Ireland and Scotland, which have roots in Viking history. But, yes, we enjoy it a lot. Thanks for visiting our site. We'll be adding some new footage of live steel combat soon, as the guys will be getting together with a group from Nebraska in Elkhorn IA.
