Stay at home, why? because im a qualified nursery nurse I refused to work watching others kids while mine were watched by someone else in another room in the same building and for two thirds of my wages to go back to the people who paid them lol!

This decision can only be made by the parents - it's a personal decision which varies from family to family.
I guess the main things that you have to consider are :-
* Can you afford to live on 1 income & have the other parent stay at home to raise the baby?
* Would you rather have 2 incomes & allow someone else to raise your child - whether it be how you want it or not?
Before we had children, we still really only had 1 income as i only worked a few hours a week but we managed pretty well then. I also didn't see the need to spend the little money i was making on day care - being that it is so expensive. Why work just to cover day care if you can stay at home & then not have to pay for day care in the first place ^_^
Also, i always just thought it was a mother's role to raise her children (or the father, depending on which parent chooses to work) - I don't think it's very fair on the children to be left alone with day care workers all day every day to be raised by then - they may do it different to how the parents want it done.
For us, it wasn't even a question, we just did things the way we wanted & now that we have baby #2 on the way, we'll continue to do it this way - my partner will work to support the family & i will stay at home to raise our 2 children!

If I got to pick I would pick to stay home wiht my daughter. After she was born I was off for a year. We just couldn't afford it any more. We went through our enitre savings and then some. We needed me to go back to work and bring in money. I would love to stay home with my daughter and watch her every move but I can't.

Hands down I would pick stay home with child. They grow up so fast and you can never get those years back. At least until they start school. Most kids end up better adjusted and better off when they are raised by their parents and not day cares!

hi friend, i am a two and a half month old mom and at present i am enjoying my motherhood. just a day back i wished my mom HAppy MOther's Day and when she in reply said same to you, i enjoyed it a lot.
i use to work with my hubby before. we work together. mine was not a normal delivery so i had to take rest for minimum three months. that is what my doctor told me.
doing a job, or continuing it, i think depends. if it is job or your career for which you have struggled for years, and a post for which you have worked soooo hard to reach or achieve. then i think the lady will obiviously continue. but if the female was doing a job for time pass or something like that then i think she can leave.if i talk about myself , i sit at home and take care of my baby..

I am not on maternity leave because i quit work while i was pregnant. I am a stay at home mum. I cant handle the thought of leaving my baby with someone else. But now its getting to the point that i have to look for work. aI dont think we can handle being on one wage much longer. My baby is nearly one, so i am lucky taht i have been able to stay at home a lot longer than some mums.
